Tenkaippin - Chion-in Temple — Restaurant in Kyoto

The food here was actually good but a bit salty —rich broth and tasty dishes that lived up to the reputation of Tenkkaipin. Unfortunately, the experience was spoiled by the staff’s rude and unwelcoming attitude. From the moment we walked in, it felt like we were an inconvenience rather than guests. A simple smile or polite service would have made all the difference, but instead we were met with impatience and dismissive responses.

It’s a shame because the kitchen clearly delivers, but the front-of-house service leaves a very negative impression. Hopefully management addresses this, as the food deserves better service to match.

We spend only a few days in kyoto. I first stumbled upon on a sight wanting dumplings. Then we returned to the restaurant because the dumplings were just that good. We each got a different type of ramen with different spice levels. Was truly the best creamy spicy ramen. Especially if you are shipping I the districts near by and dont want to spend an arm and a leg for good food. I recently visited this restaurant and had an amazing meal that included ramen, rice, and fried chicken. Each dish was incredibly flavorful and felt truly authentic.

The ramen had a rich, well-balanced broth with fresh ingredients, and the fried chicken was crispy and perfectly seasoned. The rice complemented the meal well, rounding out a great dining experience.
