Tukumogusa — Restaurant in Morioka

Well, what can I say? An unbelievable place to find while in Morioka to explore Iwate prefecture on our honeymoon. We came here on our first night in Morioka and ended up booking another 2 nights during our 5 night stay.

Food - really really good. We loved everything we ate. Great appetisers. The tempura here is fabulous. The fish carpaccio was also really wonderful. The soba with pesto was another highlight. We ate like royalty for a very reasonable price.

Sake - the local Akabu sake was the best we had while in Japan, and we wouldn’t have tried it if not for the recommendation of Ms Toshi, one of the waiting staff. All the sakes are served in outstandingly beautiful sake sets hand picked by the restaurant’s owner.

Ambience and service - really lovely place, good music and the staff are very friendly and very attentive.

Aside from the above, we had the best service from our waiter Ms Toshi on each of the 3 nights we ate at the restaurant. Thank you so much for all your recommendations for food, sake, and things to do and for making us feel so welcome in your lovely restaurant. どの料理も美味しい！ 盛岡駅から少し距離はありますが、ぜひ足を運んでみてくださいね。

◼︎お料理 大袈裟ではなく、量が多い！笑 ※もちろん良い意味です。 お腹が減っていたので、最初にたくさん注文入れてしまいましたが、少食の方は注意が必要かもです。 でも、どれも美味しく、また、わんこ蕎麦屋さんが姉妹店ということで、お蕎麦をアレンジしたメニューもあります。名前は忘れましたが、そばジェノベーゼは絶対食べるべきかと！新感覚のお料理でした。

◼︎お店 ジャズの演奏会もあるという情報をホームページで見かけたこと、またレコードもあり、きっと落ち着いた雰囲気でご飯が食べれるだろうと選びました。 事前に（といっても割と直前）予約しましたが、カウンターの席なら、ということで無理言って調整していただきました。ありがとうございます。 当日は宴会がありましたが、お料理もスムーズに出てお腹もいっぱい大満足でした。 次回はレコードを聴きながらのんびり食べてみたいですね。 お隣は姉妹店で老舗のわんこ蕎麦屋さん。 九十九草の方が入り口が奥まっているので、入る時は勇気がいるかもです！
