The same designer as 丸之內 tokyo station, very beautiful architecture using geometry and you can find lots of details behind the apparent symmetry. Half (left handside from the entrance) is free entry, the other half requires a fee (300 yen? Sorry, can't really recall now cos i didn't have time to explore then). But the entry-free area is impressive enough.

The staff (esp the uncle at the reception lobby) was super friendly and showed us how to take the...

My favorite place to visit in Morioka. The architecture jewel should be preserved for another hundred years. Cannot imagine a bank could look like this and still operation during early 2010s. Must be a very special feel to be its customer. With a minimal fee, you could access the grand tour of this place. You may find it similar to Tokyo Station's design, because they share the same designers. Bookmark this place if you're visiting...

It was completed in 1911 (Meiji 44) as the head office of Morioka Bank. In 1936, the Iwate Shokusan Bank (later Iwate Bank) took over the building and began using it as its head office. Very eye catching building in Iwate city. We drove it and it immediately captured my attention. Later on when I was going for lunch, I walked past this building again and admired the historical architecture. I did not go inside the building. I understand that the building is being used as a museum. But it was still a sight to behold.
