I saw the future of coffee at Glitch, and it sucks.
The 4th wave of coffee is here, and its defining characteristic is astronomical prices for specialty and normal coffees alike. Yes, geisha coffee varieties are very delicious, and have always demanded high prices. But what happens when players in the coffee world look at the pricing model of companies like Apple? They use the geisha varieties to artificially inflate the prices of all the regular coffees to frankly absurd levels.
Here, you are asked to pay ÂĽ1000+ for a Columbia pour over. I repeat, a Columbia pour over. Anyone who knows anything about coffee knows how absurd this is. If you're rich, like the tourists who stay in the high-end hotels in this area of Nagoya, you don't know, but you have money, so it's OK for you, I suppose.
For those of us who have grown up in coffee culture and care about its future, scam artists like Glitch cannot be tolerated. If this is the future of coffee, we're looking at a return of the 2nd wave. If you have no idea what I'm talking about, then you're lucky.
To Glitch: you are pathetic scam artists.
To all the reviewers who have left high scores: you're either filthy rich or complete idiots. In either case, the world cannot tolerate your existence any longer. Get ready for...
Read moreBe careful visitors, this place is more like a tourist trap! Do they have selected coffee? Yes they do have, undoubtfully. Is it worth the money (depending on the type around 20 bucks for a cup of coffee!!)? Definitely not. Visited many great coffee spots worldwide, never spent that much for a single coffee.
Well, the atmosphere is nice, service was friendly⌠anyway, not for that price which is simply a rip-off. Good, but not excellent.
Surprisingly they are not able to keep their restroom clean, which is not really acceptable in that high price range (especially in Japan where usually almost every toilet is usually like the cleanest place on Earth).
Summarized: I wouldnât go again and canât recommend. There are many coffee spots in Nagoya with quality coffee (and...
Read moreThe staff is nice to recommend me coffee bean without telling me the price at all, it was 3600 yen for a cup of winning bean coffee , felt like being cheated because I am a tourist.
I visited glitch Tokyo few years ago and it was a nice little coffee shop. Thatâs why I went to their branch in Nagoya as well. But apparently they have changed their business to extremely high end coffee. When you can have a cup of geisha at around 1500-2000 yen in anywhere in Japan, 3600 yen is unbelievably high and the staff should have mentioned that from the very beginning. Itâs not like you ask me what coffee I like and I replied fruity and you recommend me this 3600 yen coffee. It wasnât a pleasant experience and I wonât be going to any glitch coffee...
