This hotel is centrally located atop JR Nagoya Station, making it one of the most convenient hotels in Nagoya, from which you can easily access Kintetsu, Meitetsu, Nagoya subway lines and bus terminal as well. The hotel lobby/reception is located on the 15th floor; look out for elevators are labelled “JR Gate Tower”. If you are coming out from the JR Nagoya Station, Central Gate, head towards the left (the right heads towards the Nagoya Mariott Associa. On the ground floor, look out for the Disney store; the lifts that take you to the hotel are directly opposite. The elevator is not private for hotel guests, but it comes often enough that we never really waited too long for one. On the 15th floor, in addition to the hotel lobby, there is also a Starbucks for daily coffee fixes, a pharmacy, and even a convenience store (Bellmart Kiosk) that sells some souvenirs as well. The hotel restaurant is also located on this floor. Guests without daily breakfast can get a discount for the breakfast buffet. Food was absolutely delicious and the buffet spread varied somewhat between days. I liked that they made the effort to showcase local delicacies in their spread, which was nice. Staff were also really friendly, helpful, and most spoke English well. ||We stayed in the Superior Twin Room for 6 nights and it was amazing! The beds were so comfy, the toilets were so spacious (separate shower + bathtub), and we had this little sofa that we could sit and admire the cityscape. Complimentary bottled water was provided daily too. There was also a coffee machine in each room, though I did not try it personally, have heard from family members the coffee was decent. On the whole, it was a fantastic stay, and we would return in future for sure when visiting Nagoya.||Pro tip, if you are coming from the airport via the Meitetsu railway line, on exiting the Meitetsu station, you will find yourself near the Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel. As navigating the ground floor on a busy day can be nightmare, what you can do is enter the Nagoya Marriott and take the lift up to the 15th floor, then cross over to Nagoya JR Gate Tower. The 15th floor is thoughtfully interconnected to the other neighbouring buildings, and you can easily bypass the foot traffic down below! This is especially useful if you are handling luggage or other bulky items, or in times of inclement weather.||Not really a tip, but perhaps relevant for future guests, the hotel actually has its own private pick-up/drop-off point on the second floor. From what I gather, you can only access it via the hotel lobby (15F). The elevator is located past the reception, near the small gymnasium, and shuttles between 15F and 2F. Local Japanese tour and taxi companies appear to be familiar with this and will pick up and drop off guests here. Just putting this info here as unless guests use the gymnasium, one would usually not venture to this part of the hotel lobby, and...

Stayed late Oct 2025 in a Moderate Double room (most basic room, size 215sqft, 1 Double bed), room 2023 (with good view of train tracks, esp at night when the tracks light up in blue). Hotel is located in same building as Takashimaya Gate Tower Mall, right next to Nagoya Station, hotel lobby is on 15th floor.

Places of note Noritake Garden is 15min walk north, and Nagoya Castle 11min drive. Shirakawa Meiekiten restaurant is 6min walk north (Japanese cuisine on river eel and nagoya chicken) Nagoya-Meitetsu Station (where you drop off from Musky airport train from Chubu Airport) is 5min walk south, as is Meitetsu Bus Centre

Pro Large lobby, with English speaking staff on hand to assist (including helping to fill in luggage transfer forms) 1x Luggage rack in room, although room could barely accommodate 2x XL luggage (1 had to be opened under the table so walkway is clear) 4 fluffy pillows in room already! and decent sized clothes rack with good number of hangers. Pajamas also provided Water temp / control pressure is good, showerhead is spray mode only (only the Plus room has upgraded showerhead) Fully sheltered between train station and hotel, including a secret vehicle dropoff point on 2nd floor via a special expressway (that runs pass the Nagoya Marriott Associa 1st) Excellent breakfast spread of both Japanese and Western cuisine (including unagi hitsumabushi, oden), and some tables have a nice city view Hotel supports luggage transfer to / fro other hotels via the standard delivery svc Convenience store, pharmacy, cafe on 15th floor, and direct access to JR Gate Tower Mall (incl BIC Camera, Tokyu Hands, Takashimaya etc). Kitte Nagoya mall is also next door.

Con Shower in bathtub version (with shower curtains). Superior rooms have walk-in shower (with stool) Electric outlet plugs on 1 side of bed only Only 1 basic microwave avail (hotel lobby floor) Windows cannot be opened

An excellent base to kickstart your trip in Japan to Kyoto / Takayama, or to explore what Nagoya has to offer as an often...

Location was excellent, but experience was really bad. Staff was technically not wrong of being attached to the policy, but it was not a pleasant experience as a customer. I arrived at the hotel 2 hours earlier than the check in time. My kid was not feeling well, so I asked if it is possible to check in earlier. They said there was no room available even they saw that my kid was not well. So I begged them to check, and they said I have to pay extra for early check in, so I asked how much it costs. The price is about half of the room price for just 2 hrs of early check in. I didn’t expect it to be half of the room price given it’s a difference of 2 hrs only. So then I asked for warm water for my kid to take medicine. They said they don’t have any warm water and asked me to buy outside by myself. I was like, where can I buy warm water? They asked me to find it by myself. They are not helpful at all. After 3 days of stay, when I checked out, I asked if they could keep 1 piece of my luggage for 1 day and I would come back to pick up the next day. They refused outright by saying that I have no reservation for the next day and they hv no extra space to keep just 1 piece of luggage. After asking for a few times more, they asked me to pay 1000 yen for storage of 1 day. This trip has disappointed me not only on the service level of the hotel, but also the helpfulness of people of japan as a whole. Again, I understand hotel staff does not want to take risk on something out of their scope. But as a customer, as a parent of a sick kid, I feel helpless in front of this hotel. Will definitely not...

We enjoyed our stay at JR Gate Tower Hotel and would recommend it to anyone visiting Nagoya. Besides the unbeatable location and convenience of being close to so many retail options multiple train lines, one thing that stood out was the attentiveness and care from the staff. When we informed them a member of our group had thrown up in the toilet, they came with a vomit kit to sanitize the spot thoroughly and asked if we needed medical attention. we also received a kid’s amenity kit and there’s a selection of children’s books in Japanese in the lobby, a welcome sight for young ones. Toiletries were well stocked and I appreciated the extra hair ties and skincare kit. The room is a bit small so getting a large luggage open may be challenging, but the size was perfect for us as it was easy to access everything. We couldn’t hear much of the trains from our room but had a fabulous view of the tracks. (1929). Access to the hotel may be a bit confusing and convoluted (there’s no direct lift to the lobby, you have to access level 15 first - not sure if Marriott has the same issue) but the location is great for us, it’s super close for us to get to the Higashiyama line.
