This hotel is centrally located atop JR Nagoya Station, making it one of the most convenient hotels in Nagoya, from which you can easily access Kintetsu, Meitetsu, Nagoya subway lines and bus terminal as well. The hotel lobby/reception is located on the 15th floor; look out for elevators are labelled “JR Gate Tower”. If you are coming out from the JR Nagoya Station, Central Gate, head towards the left (the right heads towards the Nagoya Mariott Associa. On the ground floor, look out for the Disney store; the lifts that take you to the hotel are directly opposite. The elevator is not private for hotel guests, but it comes often enough that we never really waited too long for one. On the 15th floor, in addition to the hotel lobby, there is also a Starbucks for daily coffee fixes, a pharmacy, and even a convenience store (Bellmart Kiosk) that sells some souvenirs as well. The hotel restaurant is also located on this floor. Guests without daily breakfast can get a discount for the breakfast buffet. Food was absolutely delicious and the buffet spread varied somewhat between days. I liked that they made the effort to showcase local delicacies in their spread, which was nice. Staff were also really friendly, helpful, and most spoke English well. ||We stayed in the Superior Twin Room for 6 nights and it was amazing! The beds were so comfy, the toilets were so spacious (separate shower + bathtub), and we had this little sofa that we could sit and admire the cityscape. Complimentary bottled water was provided daily too. There was also a coffee machine in each room, though I did not try it personally, have heard from family members the coffee was decent. On the whole, it was a fantastic stay, and we would return in future for sure when visiting Nagoya.||Pro tip, if you are coming from the airport via the Meitetsu railway line, on exiting the Meitetsu station, you will find yourself near the Nagoya Marriott Associa Hotel. As navigating the ground floor on a busy day can be nightmare, what you can do is enter the Nagoya Marriott and take the lift up to the 15th floor, then cross over to Nagoya JR Gate Tower. The 15th floor is thoughtfully interconnected to the other neighbouring buildings, and you can easily bypass the foot traffic down below! This is especially useful if you are handling luggage or other bulky items, or in times of inclement weather.||Not really a tip, but perhaps relevant for future guests, the hotel actually has its own private pick-up/drop-off point on the second floor. From what I gather, you can only access it via the hotel lobby (15F). The elevator is located past the reception, near the small gymnasium, and shuttles between 15F and 2F. Local Japanese tour and taxi companies appear to be familiar with this and will pick up and drop off guests here. Just putting this info here as unless guests use the gymnasium, one would usually not venture to this part of the hotel lobby, and...

Read moreLocation was excellent, but experience was really bad. Staff was technically not wrong of being attached to the policy, but it was not a pleasant experience as a customer. I arrived at the hotel 2 hours earlier than the check in time. My kid was not feeling well, so I asked if it is possible to check in earlier. They said there was no room available even they saw that my kid was not well. So I begged them to check, and they said I have to pay extra for early check in, so I asked how much it costs. The price is about half of the room price for just 2 hrs of early check in. I didn’t expect it to be half of the room price given it’s a difference of 2 hrs only. So then I asked for warm water for my kid to take medicine. They said they don’t have any warm water and asked me to buy outside by myself. I was like, where can I buy warm water? They asked me to find it by myself. They are not helpful at all. After 3 days of stay, when I checked out, I asked if they could keep 1 piece of my luggage for 1 day and I would come back to pick up the next day. They refused outright by saying that I have no reservation for the next day and they hv no extra space to keep just 1 piece of luggage. After asking for a few times more, they asked me to pay 1000 yen for storage of 1 day. This trip has disappointed me not only on the service level of the hotel, but also the helpfulness of people of japan as a whole. Again, I understand hotel staff does not want to take risk on something out of their scope. But as a customer, as a parent of a sick kid, I feel helpless in front of this hotel. Will definitely not...
