We had a delightful three-night stay at the Mercure Nagoya Cypress, which truly exceeded our expectations. Upon arriving earlier than the standard check-in time, we were pleasantly surprised and deeply grateful when the staff allowed us to check in immediately. This gesture was particularly comforting after our long journey by Shinkansen, and early check-in is not commonly found in many hotels, especially in Japan.||For those traveling by train, this hotel is ideally located just a 10-minute walk from the station. Make sure to use the "Sakura-dori side" exit for the easiest access. The location is a significant advantage, offering not only convenience but also a plethora of dining options. The station itself houses numerous restaurants, and nearby, the Aeon Mall provides even more choices, including a supermarket for any additional needs.||The room we stayed in was impeccably clean with a comfortable size, fitting for a relaxing stay. While the hotel might show its age when compared to newer Mercure properties around the world, everything was in good working order, which was more than satisfactory for us.||Given its excellent location, the warm hospitality of the staff, and the functional, clean accommodations, we would not hesitate to choose Mercure Nagoya Cypress for our next visit to Nagoya. It's a stay that combines convenience with comfort, making it a top recommendation...
Read moreWalk on the subway to avoid cold wind, through exit 1, and it is just outside the train station, lobby is right in front of lawson. Everyone who had stayed here would definitely agree it is awesome. Even if the facade is archaic, walking in I had hoped that this was a quality hotel purchased by accor. The way they maintained their small lobby and hallway to the rooms gave me further boost of hope that this is well managed hotel, even before entering the room. And it's a nice surprise that the room is spacious, smells nice, very clean bathroom and more spacious compared to newer accor hotel in japan. The downside is that they don't have laundry coin machine, which is very helpful when travelling light for more than 2 weeks here around Japan. The vicinity of train and bus station to shirakawa go, convenient store literally in right front of the front lobby, and plenty late night meal options (saizeriya, etc) saves us leg energy and city bus cost to offset room rate. Membership card got me extension for check out time, close to my flight. Definitely agreed with other review that the front desk staff is...
Read moreAlthough it’s a three-star hotel, it is a great hotel for one to three people to stay in. The hotel is nice and quiet, most rooms come with free breakfast buffet coupons (which are limited but still nice enough) and the beds are quite big. The wifi works quite well and the rooms are big enough for three. I’m not sure if there are conjoining rooms, but it they will be recommended for families of four and above. There aren’t many guests in the hotel, and most of them are businessmen. The hotel is also at a convenient location—there is Lawson in front of it, a 7-11 behind it and a Family Mart northeast of it(across the street). It is a short walk of 3min away from JR Nagoya Stn.Some bad things about the hotel are that the TV’s programs are all in Japanese, and even the CNN is translated into Japanese, so I recommend you use your phones or tablets to watch the shows you like. There also isn’t a window and the aircon is quite weak, so it gets stuffy sometimes. However, apart from that, it is quite an...
