Conveniently located in Yabacho, this place is a hidden gem with a stellar view of a beautiful temple across the street if you sit on the second floor -- I really loved the ambiance overall, and the service was absolutely faultless -- the staff was super helpful and attentive and made me feel more than welcome, despite my difficulties with the language (no worries there, since you can order from an app on your phone at any table).
Best of all of course were the sets -- Hamburg steak with your choice of sauce and endless refills of sides (rice, soup, and bread with butter). I consider myself somewhat of a Hamburg steak aficionado, and this was definitely my favorite that I've had in Japan so far (along with the biggest). Thick, juicy, and soft and tender, not at all too chewy or fatty. I picked the original (onion sauce) and it was delicious. Wasn't expecting it but it was also the best miso soup I've ever had and I would equally go back just for that.
I would say the only thing was I wasn't expecting the bread and egg to be cold, but it actually ended up being a welcome contrast with all the hot food (I love the chocopan especially!). It also makes a big difference serving rice fresh in the steamers -- perfectly fluffy and delicious. Dessert was a welcome refresher after, and I left comfortably full. I can't wait to come back! This felt like a great escape -- you wouldn't think you were in Nagoya at all. Thank...
Read moreAs there aren’t many reviews in English here I’m leaving my review in English for the future foreign tourists actually (fingers crossed! After this bloody pandemic!). Especially one of foreigners has left a ridiculous review comment in English saying he got saddened finding out this is a chain restaurant. Whether it’s a chain or not as long as it’s good does it really matter?? Well in short, it’s very good and so good idea that there are many different types of condiments on the counters which we could put onto our own plate freely by ourselves to eat with the burger. They are all so well made and well flavoured. As a matter of fact I didn’t really expect it to be that good as I’m not actually that keen on burgers. However including the customer service and the cheesecake this is an excellent place to dine! I do...
Read moreDon’t let the atmosphere and design fool you like it fooled me. Everything looks hip, unique, and relaxed. The place felt great to be in, that’s for sure. Sadly, Sora Cafe is actually a chain, which somewhat ruined the excitement when I discovered it.
Putting that aside, the drinks and food is not bad. The price is somewhat higher than average (around 700 to 800 yen for drinks) but they tasted good. At this branch, the service is a bit slow because it’s packed...
