Ikoi Coffee — Restaurant in Nagoya

I recently had the pleasure of stopping by Ikoi Coffee with a friend after a day of work. Looking to catch up, get a bite, and have a warm cup of coffee, we chose here.

We went on a weekday in the middle of the afternoon, so there wasn't a wait for a table. However, as this place is picking up in popularity, if you go on the weekend, expect to wait outside for a little while.

The outside of the building stands out being a little more colorful than the grey buildings surrounding it. The inside looks similar to a log cabin, giving it a warm feeling.

The menu is fairly extensive, touting a generous morning set, different kinds of toast, an array of drinks, and a plethora of sweets to choose from. I was surprised to see how cheap the drinks on the menu were, ranging from 450-600 yen at the time of this review.

I chose to get the pizza toast, the macademia nut latte, and the sweet special of the day, the basque cheesecake. All three items were delicious, but the standout for me was the latte. The blend was good, and the whipped cream and cinnamon made for a well-balanced drink.

The staff was extremely kind and accommodating, tending to whatever we needed or asked for.

Overall, I was very pleased with my experience here and I will be stopping by again.

I will preface by saying I am no conisuer of cafes, I am just a detailed person. For tourists coming to visit Nagoya or foreigners coming to live here, Ikoi Coffee is worth a try. Keep in mind cafe culture is a bit different in Japan so drinks are the main source of monetization and will be pricey. That said, it beats Starbucks in the USA by a landslide. Their morning B set is excellent in my opinion. It is delicious and well sized. A drink and the B set is around 880 yen. The staff are very kind, and to my knowledge, one of them knows a tiny bit of English, which is helpful, however, always nice to go in with a translation app if you are unsure. My only slight criticism is the place feels a tiny bit bare in terms of decoration. Their lighting is very appealing as well as the interior, yet I feel some walls are a tiny bit empty. It is understandable with the space they have. They also allocate space for coat hangers so it is a give and take. Overall, it is cozy.

Tl;dr: [my recommendation] Go in around 8-9 as it fills up from what I understand. Grab a drink (I recommend the ice caramel latte for coffee or the ice mattcha latte for tea). Order the B set with it, and if you want to throw in a dessert. I recommend their...

熱々手作り―トーストが食べる【いこい珈琲】 名駅から行ける古民家カフェで ほっこりした空間が落ち着く。

モーニングの時間から大人気。 私がいった１０時半頃でも待ちは５組。 だけど回転率も良く、 すぐ呼んでいただけたからよかった🎵
