I've spent more than a year in Japan and I also wrote a 3400 word introduction to vegan Japanese food, so I'm well-versed on this cuisine. The two meals I ate here were the most delicious Japanese food I've ever eaten. Every dish, from the miso soup to the dessert, was incredibly tasty. And as you can see from the photos, the presentation was likewise spectacular. These meals were the fixed lunch, that costs ¥1980, but you can order a respectable meal here for half that. Read moreA few days ago I was looking for a vegan restaurant for dinner within walking distance of my airbnb and this lovely place popped up on my suggestions. When I arrived there (late at night) I didn’t know at the time but you needed a reservation. However, the lovely waitress let me in regardless (thank you so much to her as there were no other vegan food places for me). I enjoyed my first traditional Japanese meal sitting on tatami mats. I also had my first vegan Kabayaki which was absolutely delicious! It was so good that I ordered take out for the next day. My one regret is that I wish I had the chance to visit again but I couldn’t as I was leaving very soon for another. I hope to visit this restaurant again.

For the main course, I enjoyed miso soy slices, a plant-based burger, and a vege gyudon. Each dish was delicious, but I was especially impressed by the texture and depth of flavor in the miso soy slices and vege gyudon. I’ll definitely return to Grains the next time...
