Yahataya Meieki Honten — Restaurant in Nagoya

While exploring around Nagoya Station, I happened to pass by this restaurant and decided to stop in. I was seated at the counter, and as I was eating, more and more customers kept coming in, with some even waiting outside. When I asked the customer next to me, they said, “This is a very famous restaurant, and it’s a miracle to get in without waiting!” I hurriedly checked Google Maps and realized just how popular it was.

It’s a wonderful place where you can enjoy Nagoya’s specialty dishes without any pretense.

The main dishes are skewered items, and you can order them one by one, allowing you to enjoy a variety of flavors. There were small pieces of newspaper placed at the seats. When I asked a female staff member about their purpose, she explained that they are used to prevent sauce and oil from getting on your fingers when you pick up the skewers directly.

They also offer a wide range of alcoholic beverages such as beer, sake, shochu highballs, and whiskey highballs. The menu seems to be in Japanese only, but the young and friendly staff make it enjoyable even if you don’t...

We passed by this little izakaya while making our way towards Nagoya station and decided to try it out as we saw there were alot of locals queuing up. We waited for an hour before getting a seat inside.

Do note that you have to write your name down / how many pax before queuing! We ordered Doteni,Kushikatsu, Tonyaki, Negima and heart!
