I had the breakfast buffet, I don’t remember but it was probably around 3-3,500 yen per person. So delicious and worth it ! They had even eel bowl as ochazuke which is a Nagoya specialty and kishimen, those two were my favorites. They had hot coffee drinks made by a barista too. But a beautiful latte that I wasn’t expecting it looked like from a really good coffee shop! The fried foods are good as well. Service was also very nice and attentive.

I actually ate here many years ago and I didn’t have a lasting impression but this time I really was so impressed. Actually I only remembered that their signature item is an egg sandwich but it wasn’t to my liking, so I avoided it this time. But it seems very popular with everyone else!

We went on a weekday for lunch. Their lunch set comes with a drink bar where you can enjoy unlimited drinks. You receive a plate of salad and assorted bread. For the main course, we had the fish and chicken, both of which were great dishes. I personally preferred the chicken, which had a hint of Thai-style green paste on the side (if you cannot handle spice or heat, don’t add it). For me, it was an excellent dish—the chicken is slow-cooked with capers and fennel. The fish is seared perfectly and paired with a refreshing cucumber and dill sauce. We came for dinner on a Saturday and were amazed that the place wasn’t that busy. The Gatehouse is a big hotel restaurant on the 15th floor of the JR gate tower. There’s a courtyard area with outside seating, a bar area and comfy dining areas with great views of the city - which we were nowhere near unfortunately! The food is good, not overpriced and nicely presented. It’s a set course (at least ours was) but there’s a lot of variety. The staff are prompt and helpful, and there was even a couple of nice import beers...
