Huerto — Restaurant in Nara

This newly opened restaurant has a lot for itself. It's affordable, cosy, the ambience is warm, the music pleasant, and the food excellent.

The owners make their own bread and they're growing their own vegetables at the moment, hoping to cook everything with their own produce. In the meantime they get quality ingredients from various local farmers.

For 950 yen, I was served a delicate broccoli soup and the cooks prepared a special vegetarian plate for me. If you eat meat, you'll have two options for lunch. Soft jazz tunes play in the background while you eat.

The place is a little hidden is a small alley, right in front of the big screen in the shopping gallery. It's the first door on your left in this narrow street. I don't think there's an English menu, but a group of friends went yesterday and didn't have...

Where to start? Small restaurant which feels intimate and relaxing. The staff was very kind and put lots of care into the service and the food. The menus are in Japanese only ( I didn’t check if there was an English menu to be fair ), but google lens worked out just fine. The staff did their best to try and communicate in English as well so thank you for your patience with me :)

The food was amazing. I think this Spanish food was better than food I actually ate in Spain. The prices are cheap in comparison to the quality and taste of the food. I felt like this was an amazing deal for the food quality.

Overall, highly recommend stopping by here for dinner after a day at Nara park. Please take your time to relax here and slow down. The restaurant feels calm...

Was hard to find this place since it was in a very tight alley way. I could not speak Japanese but the server tried her best to communicate in English with me which was appreciated😁.
