I was at Yamato back in 2017, while staying in Narita overnight to catch a connecting flight. Unfortunately my first meal in Japan was such a let down and disappointment.
I do not speak Japanese, but they have English menus, and I ordered on a little sheet with the name and quantity of sushi I wanted.
I was sat at the bar where there were two sushi chefs at the time. They didn’t really greet me or even attempt to talk to me. They just put the sushi I ordered in front of me and went back to chatting with a group of female customers.
The overall service was cold and not very welcoming.
The sushi itself was very disappointing as well. The rice was too loose, broke apart as soon as I tried to pick it up with chopsticks. The fish was cut very sloppy. They also forgot the kohada nigiri that I ordered, and I had to remind the chef.
All in all, the price was expensive, more than $60 USD for 10 pieces of sushi. The flavour was a let down and service was not the Japanese hospitality...
