The Coffee Table — Restaurant in Niigata

Found this hidden gem in Niigata city! A 10 minutes bus ride from Niigata bus terminal to Furumachi area.

There is already a queue when we arrived and most of them are locals. We were greeted by a friendly staff who did not hesitate to introduce us the popular coffee and cakes, though we do not speak much Japanese.

Cafe ambience is cozy with the sense of modern industrial design. Apparently they will change their menu every season so you will always anticipate new flavours of cake and coffee. All the cakes are handmade with local sourced ingredients such as Hokkaido cream and Niigata peach.

First and foremost, the coffee is excellently made and has been every time I've visited. However, the problem is how concerned the staff seems with being hip and avant garde. Too formal, expensive, and interactive. Yet again, this cafe does not offer WiFi for people 2ho don't work regular jobs, this is the status quo in Japan. I appreciate the care and good intentions but I'd love a place in niigata where a person can just drink coffee in a well lit and designed space without worrying about staff interaction or manners.
