After I read some of the reviews and saw one user mention the 140 year-long history of that building as a sushi restaurant, I had to try. Unlike most of the recent visitors I went later in the evening (closer to 8 pm) and it was not busy at this point. It is located in a mostly residential area, away from the busy and bright streets of central Osaka. The owners were kind and welcoming and via Google Translate and a menu with pictures we were able to order a range of sushi and nigiri (with a side of delicious soup).
The quality is very high, as are the chef’s knife skills. Everything was carefully prepared and each slice was generous in thickness. Each roll and nigiri had a good amount of wasabi (if you don’t like it spicy, make sure to mention it).
The squid was the best I have ever tried. It is so tricky to get squid that isn’t too firm or too fatty/creamy. This one was just in between and simply amazing. The scallop and tuna were also outstanding. I am a lover of soup, so I particularly savored this one. Very clean, bright, warming, and just a hint of yuzu peel at the bottom of the bowl.
This is a true gem to be cherished and...

I had the chef's course, which was way overpriced for the quality offered. The fish on the sushi was poor quality and was cut way too thick and biting and chewing into it was a battle. The food took a while to be served, but I honestly don't really care about that. I'm still giving 2 stars because the lady serving food was a sweetheart. I'm so disappointed I can't recommend this place more but the food was simply too bland, which was my first disappointing food experience in...
Read moreWe found this place nestled just away from the busy roads and swathes of tourists. It was so calming and peaceful inside, not busy when we went around 7:30pm. The sushi was so fresh and the fish melted in the mouth. I had the assorted platter with nigiri - the octopus and tuna were insanely good! A perfect amount of wasabi under each piece of fish too. It came with a really savory light yuzu and kelp soup and green tea. Service was really friendly, it seems family run and was very wholesome and cosy inside with nice decor. Very reasonably priced around 1300-1500¥ for a set meal. Would definitely recommend :)...
