Lovely experience overall!
First of all, the Salt ramen! There is nothing more one could ask of it. Perfect balance of salt with Umami. They also provide you with nori that gives you that additional saline nuance and umami.
If you want to steer a bit away from the simple but perfect broth, they have hajikami flakes(first time seeing them, would love to buy them) that provides incredible aroma and that slight tingle to your tongue that wakes the taste buds. (Also I swear they do something to that eggs. How are they cooking them and how are they infusing the aroma..?)
Another thing that I appreciated (immensly) is that they provide smaller portion of noodles.
Usually when I go get ramen, I can't finish them. And by no means because I didn't like them. Even for ones I loved I left 1/3 to 1/2 portions. I hate food waste, and also I didn't want it to seem like I didn't enjoy the dish. So when Choro had smaller portion option, was relieved and actually finished the whole thing!
Lastly. The overall experience outside of the food itself was somewhat different (in a good way) from other ramen restaurants I've been to. (By no means an expert, but I love my ramen. ) I felt Choro was quite spacious with a bright and light atmosphere (personally think, matching the food). Also, my first time seeing the restaurant actively collect user experience and opinion which shows what the restaurant values.
Of course, the welcoming staff made the overall experience start off as and...
Read moreThis is my first time here. It's a 5-minute walk from Tanimachi 4-Chome Station. It's a hidden ramen shop on the second floor of a building that's a little hard to find. Opening the sliding door reveals a neat and tidy interior. This shop's soup is made with shellfish and chicken stock. The ramen soup that's getting the most attention at the moment is a blend of seafood and chicken soup, so it's my favorite type of soup. I ordered Choro noodles and a Makanai grilled pork bowl. The food was served about 5 minutes after ordering. First came the soup. It tasted just as I expected. It had a fragrant aroma and a strong flavor, but wasn't heavy. The noodles were thin and a little on the firm side. The pork slices were also soft and melted in my mouth. The pork slices bowl was just the right amount to change up the flavor of the ramen. The raw egg, green onion, pork slices, and white rice all went perfectly together. Although it's a hidden ramen shop, it's one of the top ramen shops...
Read moreWe decided to head to this place for lunch after our trip to the Osaka Museum. Finding this place was easy!
The restaurant inside had many different tables, as well as countertop seats. It had a very lively vibe where you could kinda see into the kitchen no matter where you sat.
I forgot the broth I picked, but my parents got the sardine one. We all picked the mixed meat, where half of it was fully cooked and half of it was semi cooked. Let me tell you, the broth was rich and so tasty! It was salty but not too salty, and what surprised me was the HOKKAIDO BUTTER THAT WAS INCLUDED with my ramen order.
I am not familiar with adding a spoon of butter, but it was so necessary to enhance the flavour of my ramen! It was not too fatty or milky or overwhelming. It perfectly complemented the saltiness of the broth. The noodles were thin and chewy.
Now,...
