Its cozy vegan restaurant with amazingly delicious menu. Searching for veg/vegan restaurant and eventually, we found this restaurant for dinner. The items we have ordered was surprisingly delicious and healthy. We have ordered the Salad, fried potato wedges, pasta, and pizza. The pizza base is made of some special flour with mushroom powder. Definitely, it is required a lot of effort and hard work to prepare the delicious menu and food. While reading the menu, we reached to the last page where there is mention about the name of restaurant; what is the meaning of the restaurant name. Initially, I thought it is Italian or something else has used for the restaurant name. But after reading the description; the name of the restaurant is of the Sanskrit word “SUKHASANA”. SUKHASANA is the word for a yoga position that means the happiness position of yoga. Finally, we had very kind and good talk with the owner of the restaurant. And he explained how he started doing Yoga and that makes him to change his diet and become vegan. Afterall, he decided to open the vegan restaurant one year ago. I would recommend as one of the must go place to enjoy energetic and...
Read moreI'm amazed by the pizza here. Vegan pizza is few and far between in Japan so finding a dedicated vegan place is amazing. Wide variety of pizzas to choose from, including different styles, tomato base, creamy base, mushroom base etc, all with vegan cheese.
Menu also had some great pasta options and daily specials and I was broken hearted to miss out on the pizza dough doughnuts as someone ordered the last one just before me.
It's a relatively small place with a great atmosphere. It is a one man operation which means once it's full it'll be hard to get sat down for awhile but the chef/owner was very friendly and allowed us to book a table and return 30 minutes later. If you want to walk in I'd suggest going as early as possible or maybe asking to reserve/come back like we did as it's well worth it.
Worth noting my girlfriend said it was the best pizza she's ever had and I think I may agree (at least best one I've had since turning vegan) dough was freshly made, as were all ingredients (you can see chef getting different sauces from pots that he has used...
Read moreI'm still thinking about these pizzas 2 weeks later... 😍 Quite possibly the best pizzas I've ever eaten!
My partner & I visited one evening (quite late) but sadly when we arrived there was a sign outside saying they'd closed as they'd sold out of food. So, we returned the next evening (earlier this time) & the restaurant was full. We asked if we could return in 30 minutes & if a table could be saved for us when somebody left. Success! Our persistence paid off.
Sukhasana is run by just one guy, who does everything himself from taking the orders to cooking the food & cleaning up. The food is well worth the wait, I promise you!
I'm not usually a big fan of the crust of a pizza but I did not leave one crumb on my plate. The crust/base was light & full of flavour. The tomato sauce - OMG. It should be bottled & sold because I've never had a tastier pizza sauce.
Honestly, this is some of the best food we had during our 3 week trip. I would give you more than 5 stars...
