Extremely disappointed…
I was looking forward to eating at this place as a small splurge. I asked to not be served anything containing alcohol since I am allergic to it. This ended up causing a lot of problems.
The restaurant has 2 obligatory starters at 1’000¥ that you get automatically. However they somehow contained alcohol, so one of the starters was replaced with a small handful of mixed nuts (which is already disappointing but I was willing to let it slide).
When I asked if I could get something else to replace the 2nd starter, I was served an extremely sour salad which I ended up not being counted with the obligatory starters. This means that on top of the inedible salad (1’200¥), I paid 1’000¥ for A HANDFUL of nuts.
I ordered some regular sushi rolls, which were good, and some beef tongue as well as some mackerel. After a bit of time and no food coming, I asked where my order was, to which the waiter indicated that he didn’t take note of the fish and meat I ordered, as it apparently also contained alcohol (which I wasn’t made aware of that entire time). He then told me I couldn’t order it anymore as the kitchen closed literally 5 minutes ago.
So for those counting at home, I paid ~4’500¥ for a salad so sour it could clean toilets, a cola, some average sushi and A HANDFUL of nuts…
I left the restaurant still hungry and took a few items at the supermarket at the base of the tower.
On top of that I was seated at the bar which negated my view of the city, which is sort of the point of the entire restaurant.
I would give service a -1/5 if it...
Read moreWe arrived around at 8:40pm on a Sunday night (they close at 10pm) and were able to take us in. Last call is at 9pm. We didn’t mind. We were so grateful that we were able to walk in and they would take us. The restaurant is absolutely stunning with spectacular views of the city! You can see Osaka Castle from above.
The food was absolutely delicious and it actually came in bigger portions than what I expected! We ordered the assorted three types of sushi, Kuroge Wagyu Sirloin and Red Meat Lava Steak, Eel roll (I didn’t get the whole picture, only my pieces), Octopus kimchi and cream cheese tossed in chanja sauce, Braised beef tendon and radish,l (not shown), and yakisoba. EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS! My husband and I left with our tummy happy and full.
From the host in the front, to our waitress and the chefs. Everyone was incredibly nice. The customer service is outstanding. It wasn’t too busy, however, there was a group party/event happening next room to us and our waitress not only serve us & some of the tables around us, but also helped with that party too. She is such a hard worker. Although she was so busy going back and forth, she still made sure to take good care of us. When we left after dinner, she even walked us to the elevator.
It was our last night for dinner in Japan and we are SO glad that we end our amazing trip with such an...

Because of a phone call from my father expressing his desire to come to Japan, we only decided to visit Osaka, Japan two days ago. It has been a long time since my parents visited Japan (especially for my father, who last came 20 years ago), and coming to "San" was truly a very right and delightful choice.
San is located on the 38th floor of the Twin 21 MID tower (about a 10-minute walk from our hotel, the Osaka New Otani Hotel). From here, you can enjoy a panoramic view of both Osaka Castle and the city's night scenery. At this height, you can clearly see the outlines of Osaka Castle and the urban landscape. It must be said that viewing Osaka Castle at night is particularly romantic.
Regarding the dishes, I can strongly feel the thoughtfulness in their menu planning. From the appetizers to the main courses, almost everything has a special "presentation." Perhaps I just happened to order dishes that required special demonstrations. From the on-site preparation of the appetizer seasonings to the steamed Kuroge Wagyu beef tenderloin, salmon belly, and salmon roe porridge... it was quite a show!
The ingredients are not particularly exotic; they are all common items. However, the overall taste is truly delicious. Especially the method of steaming the Kuroge Wagyu beef allows I to enjoy the "freshness" and "tenderness" of the beef without it being too tough. The accompanying ginger soup is also really delicious! In terms of the deliciousness of the dishes, I would rank this dining experience as the number one in Japan so far. This is because it has a very high cost-performance ratio, surpassing my previous experience of tasting Kobe beef by far.
Today, the tableside service was provided by "金春さん," who is as handsome as a J-pop idol. More importantly, his attitude was exceptional. He helped with dish presentations, and tableside assistance (such as providing spoons, napkins), and even escorted guests to the elevator entrance 😹. (Am I using up too much good fortune...)
In summary, this experience was excellent, and my parents were very satisfied. It truly embodies the meaning of "燦" which signifies "bright and dazzling." Lastly, I sincerely say "ごちそうさまでした" and thank you for the wonderful hospitality 😊
