I glanced at other guests' reviews and unfortunately some of those critical observations match mine. It leads me to believe that the management is quick to post appropriate replies here, but it looks like they don't act accordingly to correct the course. But let's start with the positive angle. It is a new property and that is obvious everywhere, clean and thoughtfully designed. Castle view (if you score that side) is priceless. Few minutes walk to Osaka's major tourist attraction, Osaka Castle, also priceless. Now for the areas where the management HAD to act already, based on the previous guests' feedback. How about the fact that their check in process and Diamond Members recognition apparently fails frequently. They simply cannot afford to place a team member who speaks zero English at the check in duty every day, mid-day. The same team member is also blissfully unaware of HH benefits. I had to endure very long periods of awkward silence standing at the front desk, waiting for him to type and type and type into his phone Google Translate, then turn his phone to me, showing me his replies to my simple HH Benefits questions - mostly frustrating and wrong answers. I finally got to speak with a manager, Yuta, who completely saved the day, checked me in the way how the check in is supposed be done. Yuta is a wonderful example of Hilton's known customer service. Next, they really need to do a better job posting more useful street signs pointing towards the hotel. There is no need to walk all the way towards the bridge, then make the right turn. Even that long way seems uncertain for new guests. There has to be a sign long before, pointing people to make the right turn before the building, into the little street behind the hotel. Walking with your luggage from the train station - you don't need to be wondering aimlessly. Also, other guests have noted that the breakfast buffet is chaotic. The layout creates the bottle neck traffic jam due to a large number of guests cramming into a little passage towards the egg station, colliding with a line at the noodle station, backing into the people collecting other items. It is a total mess, can't pass others juggling plates, without contorting around people standing in other lines, either coffee, eggs, noodles, salads. There is so much unused space on the other side of the wall - they have to remodel this urgently. Completely distracts you from the otherwise good food. Next, all West TV channels had an error message (i.e. BBC and CNN). Granted, nobody comes to Japan to watch TV, but it's just nice to have that connection in the evening. I showed a pic of the error message from my TV (in Japanese) to the front desk. After looking at the pic in sheer shock for few minutes (I'd expect them to read few lines easily), the best they could come up is the one word answer - "weather" (!?). I reminded them it has been mostly sunny all week. Surely, I wasn't the only one who reported this. The error message persisted the whole week. Gave up on that battle. This property is not something people visit few times a year, for most of us it is a once in a life time opportunity to visit this city and there are no second chances here. Despite the perfect location and the wonderful feeling of a great new property, they failed on several fronts and I can't recommend them to other...
Read moreI booked a River View room as a Hilton diamond member, a basic room. On the day of check in I was upgraded to an Executive Castle View room. A pretty good upgrade!||The room itself was nice, clean, and the standard I’ve come to expect from the DoubleTree brand in Japan. It was significantly nicer and roomier than any local business hotel yet also like a marginally scaled-down Hilton. The room had a great view of Osaka Castle!||As you might expect from the name, the hotel is located next to Osaka Castle and is a 5-10 min walk from Temmabashi Station. It’s not at all too far from transportation however it is also true that this is currently Hilton’s most remote location in Osaka. The trade off for the lower price in town is the location and scaled down nature when compared to, for example, the Hilton Osaka. Perhaps I didn’t look hard enough however aside from Osaka Castle and a few restaurants and convenience stores, I couldn’t find much else in the local area. Not a huge problem considering Japan’s robust transit system. ||The hotel features a nice executive lounge on the top floor with great views of Osaka Castle. I enjoyed afternoon tea and there is also an evening cocktail service. Unlike most mainline Hilton hotels, there is no breakfast service in the lounge. Breakfast service is exclusively in the hotel restaurant which is honestly not a problem at all. ||On that note, I enjoyed breakfast in the hotel lobby restaurant. It met the high standards of Hilton breakfast service in Japan with both Japanese and Western options in a buffet setting. There were even some local specialties such as kushikatsu. ||Overall, I enjoyed my stay. I think that if budget is your primary concern then of course there are cheaper options such as business hotels. That said, if you plan on visiting Osaka Castle or if you’d like a balance of budget and quality and/or loyalty to Hilton then this is currently the most affordable option in the Osaka...
Read moreWe stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Osaka Castle for six nights, from March 27 to April 2, and had a wonderful experience. The rooms appear to have been recently renovated — our double-bed room was spacious by Asian standards, spotless, and well-equipped. The bathroom amenities (toilet, shower, make-up mirror, etc.) were all modern and functioned perfectly. As a diamond member, we were upgraded to a room with a view of Osaka Castle, which made our stay even more special. Waking up to the sight of the majestic castle, and seeing it beautifully illuminated at night, was a real treat.|The hotel breakfast was outstanding, offering a wide variety of both Western and local dishes. Everything was freshly prepared and delicious. The dining area was spacious and offered a lovely view of the castle and the surrounding park. The staff kept the area clean and were always attentive and accommodating. Breakfast here is truly not to be missed.|While the facilities were impressive, what really stood out was the exceptional service. From the initial Q&A with the reservation team before our trip, to check-in/check-out with the concierge, to housekeeping and dining staff — every person we interacted with was professional, kind, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I only wish I had noted their names so I could personally thank each of them. Their warmth and attention to detail truly made our stay memorable. Thank you!|The hotel is conveniently located about a five-minute walk from Temmabashi metro station, making it easy to get around Osaka. We arrived from Kansai Airport by taking the JR Haruka Express to Tennoji Station, then opted for a taxi to the hotel since we had two large suitcases. While the metro is an option, the taxi made the final leg of the journey much easier.|We absolutely plan to stay here again the next time we...
