I don't like giving bad reviews, and this franchise is great, but this store was really disappointing. If you want the best experience eating at a crab restaurant, Kani Douraku is your best choice. The food at this particular store was also delicious, but I had unbelievably poor service and the decoration wasn't at all up to the Kani Douraku standard.
Our Experience: We were going to be a little bit late for our reservation so we called nearly an hour in advance to let them know, but they seemed to scold us and say that they are too busy to even allow us to stay any longer than our alotted time. We got there between 15-20 minutes late because the location was harder to find than expected. We were surprised to find that there were no other customers besides us in the whole restaurant.
The decoration and atmosphere was subpar compared to other Kani Douraku stores and the waiters were especially slow at coming to take our first order (drinks), even though we came late and there was no other customer there.
When we finally got our food, we found that they made a mistake with our order, and we only knew because we noticed that they gave us one item in the course that was a little more expensive than the one we ordered. They didn't start explaining what each food item was until we asked them to, until then they were just saying what the food was and putting it in front of whoever, regardless of which person it was for (they didn't even ask us).
We didn't even order a course for every person (three of us shared a course), and our food didn't even all come out before our reserved time was up and as soon as they served our last dish, they took the green tea pot early (it was still a quarter full) and two servers stood around our table until we left. There was no one waiting for our spot when we left the restaurant.
We made the best of our experience and didn't do anything outlandish or cause any trouble, but some of the servers there were condescending and/or bad at their job. One of the servers couldn't even understand my Japanese wife's Japanese very well.
To sum it up, this was probably one of the worst experiences I've had in a restaurant in Japan, and I live here. I recommend going to the other Kani...
