My husband and I were recent guests of the Hotel Monterey Le Frere Osaka. Arriving from Kyoto tired and hungry, we left our bags with the front desk and explored a bit of Osaka. We returned to the hotel, retrieved our luggage, and went to the room then dinner. Returning from dinner late, tired, and ready for bed, we noticed a stain on the outside of the duvet, which upon closer inspection was blood. We immediately called front desk, and someone came to our room to replace and remove the soiled duvet cover. We finally got to bed after 10, tired and disgusted with the discovery. Later the next day, we were surprised no one from the hotel had reached out to see if everything was ok and ask how they could address the issue. We ended up speaking with a manager and manager/interpreter who offered us a larger room and free breakfast for the inconvenience. Since our room was fine (despite the discovery of blood), and we generally do not eat large breakfasts we declined, instead asking for a full refund for the one evening (we were staying for four). They said they would let us know if this was possible the next day. The next day we found a note in our room from another manager apologizing for the situation, nothing else. Later that day we demanded to see the senior manager who wrote the note. We met with him and the other manager/interpreter again, requesting a refund for the evening. Both said as a policy they do NOT provide room refunds under any circumstances, despite the fact the previous manager agreed to discuss it and get back to us. After several conversations, including a discussion about the health hazards of bodily fluids (blood) on bed sheets, in contact with our bodies, the hotel staff refused our request after several meetings, wasting a total of 3-4 hours of our holiday time. Ultimately they refused to rectify the situation to our satisfaction, leaving us with nothing apart from a written apology, not even addressed...

Location access:
Quickest way to get here is via Higashi Umeda. Walk to 11-43 exit via the passage way (follow signs for Kita. Station) and up the escalator the turn right into the first street next to the pharmacy. You can do 11-41 exit on the Google maps if you like it’s a lift you just need to walk out of the lift and turn left.
Or if JR Osaka is your stop, follow the signs to JR Kita. So from JR green information shopfront if you were walking out of that green store front head DOWN the escalators and follow signs to Diamor or Kita. Station. When you get to Venchi, head towards the brick decorated building interior passage way (you’ll see Diana and Daiso and a Leather company store) if you keep walking down you’ll get to the building exits.
Food
There is takoyaki in the uphill alleyway in front of Lawson. Don’t go to dontonburi for that, it’s overcrowded!
If you want udon or ramen or a business man vibe (incl massages) head back to the escalator entrance walk down the stairs and as you walk towards JR Osaka station look to left and right alleys and you’ll find delicious options and affordable pricing.
Also don’t eat at the kuromon market for sashimi. Osaka station is littered with high end food courts…. Legit!!! Head down to Hankyu or Hanshin food market, more variety. Just go to this food market around 7-730pm for 30pc off everything! Kuromon is good for Fugu (again overpriced vs 10 years ago) and Snow Crabs.
Other
Do go to Dogayasuji for souvenirs like chopsticks for 150Yen not the tourism areas. Ramen bowls 980yen and cups cups cups all Made in Japan prior to your Kuromon human wave moment.
Glitch coffee a short stroll away (20mins) at the...
