First McDonald's experience in Japan and was underwhelmed. We come from Australia, so will be comparing the experience compared to what we would get at McDonald's in Australia.
In terms of positives, they did have some pretty great value deals on offer. At the time it was something like two large fries and 18 nuggets for around 1100 yen (unfortunately both the fries and nuggets were terrible, see below). The Teriyaki Chicken burger as far as I can tell is exclusive to Japan and was quite good. Melon Soda as an option was also unique.
In terms of negatives however, the rest of the food was poor. They seemingly use no salt whatsoever on the fries, so they just just bland. The McNuggets were unfortunately really dry, and the number of sauce options they have are limited (no sweet and sour? Really?). They had some kind of chicken shake bag available too and this was just okay. The tables in this location were tiny and the space was cramped.
McDonald's in Australia is much better. Perhaps they've adjusted it for Japanese tastes but I honestly cannot fathom the idea behind serving fries with zero salt on them. This doesn't seem to be a problem exclusive to this location or McDonald's itself either as we also tried KFC while in Japan and found that the chips were also unsalted here as well. The quality of the nuggets compared to the ones you get in Australia is like comparing chalk and cheese. Japan generally have really good chicken, so it was disappointing that they were so dry and tasteless.
Maybe just try a Teriyaki burger for the experience and...
Read moreI recently visited McDonald's and requested a simple customization: to have the bun removed from my burger. To my surprise, the staff refused, not because they couldn't do it, but because they didn't want to. It's shocking that such a basic request, which many other fast-food chains accommodate without hesitation, was outright denied. The lack of flexibility and refusal to meet a reasonable request highlights poor customer service and an unwillingness to prioritize customer satisfaction. If McDonald's can't make small adjustments to suit their customers' needs, it makes me question their overall attitude toward service. I left feeling frustrated and unwelcome. This experience has made me reconsider returning to McDonald's in the future. Very...

We ordered two McDonald’s breakfast sets. The male staff member who brought our food suddenly shouted in English, loud enough for everyone in the restaurant to hear, at our child: “No outside food!” When we asked him to apologize, he took out an iPad, used Google Translate, and said “I’m sorry,” pretending not to know how to speak English.
The whole experience was ruined. Most importantly, there was no sign at the entrance indicating that outside food was...
