Extremely disappointing. I have had quite a number of sushi and sashimi over the years, from low end to high end in Australia, as well as cheap restaurants and markets sushi in my previous Japan trips, and this would rate as the worst. I'm by no means an expert, but it is my favourite cuisine.
The seats were filled with 6 Koreans and myself (an Australian), and 2 Japanese who the chef clearly knew. Everyone was respectful and eager. As we entered the main chef / owner was not interested in us in the slightest. Not a greeting, goodbye, thanks or even a glance at us. Instead only talked to his two mates he was directly serving. We were served by a very nice sous chef and a lady. This doesn't really bother me, but it dampened the experience.
Each meal that came out was pretty average, mostly "meh". I felt like it was no better than the nigiri I could make at home, with fresh local fishmonger sashimi grade fish, or sushi I have gotten from places where my total bill was $50.
Warm, mushy fish, mostly tasting of big wasabi hits. Nothing balanced. Chewy octopus, raw clams and abalone. My first try at fish testicles (not my thing. Could be a cultural difference so I can't judge that). Even basic nigiri like tuna otoro which is just incredible everywhere I have had it was strangely average. A crab custard where the custard was broken and watery.
I can't honestly believe this is 2 star Michelin. I've never been to a Michelin star restaurant but I'm not sure I really care to ever go again. A massive waste of $200+.
Find somewhere else. This guy doesn't care. And if he once did, he no longer does. Which is a pity, as I was so keen on...
Read moreThis has got to be one of the best Japanese restaurant ever. The freshness and natural sweetness from the seafood was on a whole different level. Even the Ikura was unlike those you get, it was sweet yet, not salty. The star dish has got to be their tamago roll, which looks plain and unappealing. But the flavors that burst into your mouth is something that you won't expect out of something this simple. It left a sweet after taste that lasts for an hour. Let's not forget the amazing collection of sake they have. Every bottle they selected for us were such good companion to our dishes. Worth every bit of money and I would definitely recommend to anyone who's visiting Osaka to book a table in advance and pray that you get it.
Kudos to the chefs as well , they were very hospitable and warm. They were more than happy to explain the type of fish we're about to eat and even went to the extent to show us the information about the fish in a book.
It's a warm and cozy place, you're requested to go 10mins earlier to settle down. The other request is that guests do not spray on any perfume. I believe this is due to the small eating place and not wanting other patrons to smell...

I was insulted by the restaurant, and going to such establishments is extremely humiliating. It's very evident that they've been treating me poorly because I'm a foreigner, and I've been consistently kicked out of their establishment! My Japanese family has been trying to call this place for nearly a month, making 1-2 calls every day.
Since the restaurant never answers the phone, we decided to drive there. I've been living in Japan for almost 30 years, and I politely and fluently spoke to them in honorific Japanese, saying, "Because we couldn't reach you by phone for a month, we've come here to inquire about making a reservation."
However, they still kicked me out and told me that customers can only call between 5 pm and 6 pm when they're dining. I said, "But you never answer the phone, and there's no one to speak to... Can you at least tell me who is in charge of reservations and what their name is?"
An employee from the Michelin restaurant pointed at a sign by the door and told me to look for that. Then, they ushered me out.
Is it necessary to dine at such a restaurant? Is it worth spending money to be treated this way? My Japanese family try to called here a month (everyday...
