A mediocre meal but a disappointment for the price and not authentic in the slightest. Exclusively for inexperienced tourists. Come here if you want Instagram pictures.
Do not come here if you want to experience omakase, or at all.
13,000¥ per person (second highest tier) and they forgot to refill our water the entire time till we asked.
For someone without omakase knowledge: the sushi is better than something you would have at conveyer belt for sure,(which is probably why it’s rated high in the first place) but it is many times more expensive. If you know anything about omakase you will know that it is completely wrong.
There were red flags instantly. Everyone here was speaking English and all the menus were in English too. This could be fine so we didn’t think anything of it but then they gave us cheap wooden chopsticks and a dry hand towel as well as ginger the same quality as what you would find in supermarket sushi. These are all big red flags. The sake was also served in a cup instead of a box. This made our hopes low, which was unfortunately continued by the appetizers.
Every dish was inedible and we left everything that was more than one bite unfinished. The sushi was pre-cut and not as fresh as you would expect at this price point, and the worst part was the overpowering sauce. The rice tasted strongly of vinegar and every cut of fish was drenched in a sauce that ended up being the exclusive flavor for each bite. The only tell of the fishes quality was the texture, being the only reason I know it was better than supermarket sushi at all. The only thing you could taste was sugar or salt.
I don’t know what’s sadder, that the beautiful high quality fish were disgraced and covered in cheap sugars, that It was so expensive, or that this was my father’s first...
Read moreBeing our first Michelin star restaurant, we had high expectations of interacting with the chef and being taught the nature and details of every dish. We booked a counter reservation, premium omakase and were seated at a table to our surprise. We had to tell the staff this was an error and showed them the receipt of a counter seat. We were later moved to the counter.
Upon being seated, the ambience was quiet and one would think the chef would say hello or some introduction would occur. No greeting occurred. After a few rounds of appetizers brought by the staff, our main course started, served by the chef. He would place each sushi in front of us and state what fish it was and nothing else. After a couple rounds, I was puzzled as to why the experience was stale and was expecting to learn about each sushi or have some sort of life in the room. Chef did not really look all that enthusiastic either.
It wasn’t until I broke the ice and said hello, introduced myself and my party to have some engagement with the chef. I started to inquire of the dishes to bring in some life into the experience since my expectations were to be taught and learn about each dish.
If we are paying for quality service, one would think the customers would be taught about each meal and how it originated, how the fish was prepared, etc. Perhaps this is not normal on how Michelin rated restaurants usually conducts itself. Sushi was delicious, however, it is a shame the energy in the room lacked life and hoped we would have been taught about the sushi that was...
Read moreWent there for dinner with my in-laws. This was only few places available for last minute reservation with the english website I use, now I know there is a reason for it. Service: minimum, while we were charged a 10% service fee for it. What is even worse: the full course were rushed/pushed into about an hour. the next dish was served even when we did not finish the previous one yet. Horrible experiences. Price: we had the 18,000 JPY set, and based on the photos I saw from others. Now, it feels like a a ripped off, though the price was listed publicly while what would be served was described with ambiguity. Atmosphere: It feel low end environment for the price we paid. Sushi: I would not say it is bad sushi, however, based on my experiences of previous 20 visits to Japan, I would say it is around average the best. As above, I will not go there...
