We were looking for a sushi omakase restaurant near our accommodation and came across this place. It seemed like the most suitable option, so we decided to give it a try.
The restaurant is run by two people - a chef and a lovely lady who manages the service. The chef was focused and dedicated to preparing the dishes, maintaining a distant yet respectful demeanor. On the other hand, the lady brought warmth to the experience. She used a portable translator to communicate with us, asking where we were from and what languages we spoke to ensure we had all the information we needed. She was attentive and sweet.
The restaurant has a vintage charm, likely having been in operation for many years. It is well-maintained, and like many Japanese restaurants, it gives off the unique impression that time has stood still, adding to its nostalgic ambiance.
As for the omakase itself, the sushi was fresh, delicious, and satisfying. While it may not have been the most extraordinary meal, it was undoubtedly enjoyable and worth trying if you’re in the area.
We did experience a minor disappointment: despite arriving first, we were served after another group that came later. We suspect this was due to their larger or more expensive order, and with only one chef preparing everything, the delay was understandable. The lady even apologized for the wait, which we appreciated. Ultimately, we didn’t mind too much, as we enjoyed the atmosphere and passed the time chatting.
When we were leaving, the lady surprised us with an extra sushi roll as a gift. This lovely gesture added a personal touch to the experience and left a lasting impression.
If dinner prices feel a bit high, I’d recommend stopping by for lunch, as the prices seem more affordable.
If you’re around and looking for a pleasant sushi omakase experience, this spot is worth considering. The combination of good sushi, a welcoming ambiance, and kind service makes it a...
Read moreThis location really put a damper on my trip.
We tried this location by the recommendation of the host where we were staying.
At first, the man and woman seemed nice and welcoming. It was empty and we were the only customers there. The woman sat us and noticed we did not read/speak Japanese fluently. So she went to go find the English menu. While she was searching, I noticed a Japanese menu posted with pricing. Omakase 7 piece for 2500 yen. Pricey but hoped the taste would make up for it.
Then we recieved the English menu...there was that noticeable mark up for foreigners. Charging an extra 1000 yen at minimum for the same items. Ive heard of this happening but in the few times ive been to japan, I personally never experienced it until now. The woman definitely noticed I saw the pricing and attempted to cover the japanese menu with another. This obviously left a sour taste in our mouths.
We decided to stick it out anyways with the hope that thr sushi would be great atleast.
Boy were we disappointed. Most of the items were rubbery and seemed not as fresh. The best item was yellow tail and the belly.
Overall, if you dont speak/read Japanese or even look foreign, I'd avoid this place. Not only a scam to foreigners but also I've had better sushi from a grocery store...
Read moreThis shop has been open and in this family since 1975 and the decades of experience show. Every sushi piece I had was prepared with tremendous attention to detail and flavor combinations. The Omakase was served two sushi pieces at a time allowing for very interesting interplay between each bite.
Both the sushi chef and the woman who filled every other role in this small sushi restaurant were extraordinary kind and patient, even using a translation device to explain each piece of sushi that I was served and came outside with me to take a pic upon the meal’s conclusions. I was deeply honored and moved by their...
