Very friendly reception. Waitress speaks some English and is able to help you out to a degree. Even could exchange some travel plans on Hokkaido. The place is traditional-modern. Come before 7pm (last order) - this is perfect for me as I am hungry and at 6 it is dark anyway (in September). Unfortunately I always find it a bit difficult to figure out what to order as the communication is limited and the menu is in Japanese. Well, since I am in a Sushi place, I order the 12 pieces. My table neighbours have some smaller dishes - and I am not hungry anymore, as the plate is perfect in size and accompanied with a draft beer. But I will have to change my tactics to choose the menu ;-). Price-wise I would say it is a little bit more expensive, but still totally ok in comparison with similar standards. I liked this friendly restaurant and it is just around the corner from where I stayed. Otaru is full of good places that are not on the tourist hot spots. See my other review.
