ALADDIN SPICE RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Otaru

Aladdin Spice Restaurant is a real surprise to find in Hokkaido. Located in Temiya, a north western suburb, it may be a little out of the way but really well worth the effort to get there. We tried their Lunch Special and found it to be totally authentic in all respects. The flavours of their curries are superb and accompanied by a giant Naan, which can be ordered additional free of charge if desired. Having lived for many years in Singapore and used to Asia food delights including Curries, we were agreeably surprised to come across this gem in Otaru of all places. Best Indian vegetarian Indian so far in Japan. The chef was very accommodating and willing to make vegetarian dishes especially for us. The Butter Paneer Masala and Bhindi Masala were exceptional. Even the Tandoori roti were well done along with the Tawa Rotis. We were a little skeptical when we entered the restaurant as there was only 1 other customer there. This is the only halal restaurant in Otaru, and what's even better is that the food is delicious! The biryani portion is big, and the melted cheese in the cheese naan was overflowing! The staff is wonderfully friendly and even helped to call us taxi back to our hotel.
