Ikinari Steak — Restaurant in Sapporo

I have been a regular at Ikinari for years and in most of the cities that have this steak eatery. Today I was completely insulted and shocked at the rude and indifferent attitude of one younger service staff at this branch that insisted I must be seated next to toilets at the far end of the restaurant. It was wasn't a request but a rude demand in a practically empty restaurant except for two other Japanese guests who were accomodated in their seat requests. Having been used to polite Japanese service, I requested my seats to be changed to a more central location and I was not about to let this insolent waiter decide a customer's dinner. After an exchange that I decided I was not about to relent, he finally decided to accommodate my request. The ribeye steaks came done a bit dry but the house wine was OK. I had a quick 25min dinner and left the restaurant feeling insulted. This was indeed not an enjoyable meal as the bad staff behaviour had left a very bad taste in my mouth. Would I come back ? Certainly NOT when a restaurant cannot teach their staff well and when the staff has a racist attitude and bigotry behaviour. Appeared to me that non Japanese are not welcomed here. If you love steak then this is the place to come to as they will cook the steak the way you like it. You have a choice of 200g or 300g steaks. We decided to have the Rib Eye Japanese Steak 20 days old. With the steak had a mixed salad and the steak had cooked corn and vegetables. You can have drinks with your steak and can have soft drink such as coke or wine or beer. If you are lucky and sitting at the front table you can watch them cook your steak as it is slightly different to the usual way. Excellent experience. Service was fantastic. My son is celiac and I was able to show them the Gluten Free card and we were well looked after. Another waitress also has a son that needs to eat gluten free, so she advised the chef what was Ok and what was not. Meat was delicious (but perhaps order as medium for a less chewy experience). Food was served very promptly and they were so accommodating and nice with my Duolingo attempts...
