Dormy Inn Premium Sapporo was a great stay overall. The room was clean and sufficient for all our needs. We used the onsen downstairs regularly as well as tried the free post-onsen refreshments. However we had a few issues:
-We booked with Booking.com and booked a room with cleaning, however when we arrived they insisted we did not book as such (the eco-plan with no cleaning). Upon further “clarification” with booking.com, booking.com said that it went through a second party and then to Dormy Inn (presumably Agoda), and that affected our booking. The staff did not fully understand english but after rounds of clarification, they decided to give us the cleaning option we paid for.
-The double bed was really small, we kept bumping either to each other or the wall through the night, and the pillows/bed were hard.
-The toilet had a sewage smell coming through on one day, we read reviews about this being an issue on lower floors. However upon spraying the toilet drainage areas with warm water the smell left.
-The room heating was a bit excessive, even though we put it at 16 degrees celsius it was constantly warm, and it was reflected in the clock’s temperature for the room (22-24 degrees).
-While the men’s onsen had a sauna, cold pool and multiple hot pools, the women’s onsen had only 3 hot pools of which 2 were extremely tiny and not hot at all, which meant at any one time only about 4-5 people could go into the main hot pool.
-There was no vending machine for local milk unlike the Kobe outlet
However, we booked in mid January for early March and it was 84,825 Yen for 6 nights. Despite the troubles, we had great connectivity to the hub of Sapporo (Odori area of Tanukikoji Market). The location in and of itself was a great compensation for the minor inconveniences we experienced.
If I were to book again, I might try the Annex outlet instead due to their newer facilities. It was closed for renovation during my stay til approx end April 2025. Nonetheless I am happy to stay in Dormy Inn Premium Sapporo again and I thank the staff for their service and...
Read moreMy first half a day here and my family and I were highly unpleased by the service attitude provided by specifically a male staff with the last name of "Shimizu".
Firstly, I dropped my mother and father at Dormy Inn Premium Hotel to enquire about the checkin while my wife and I headed for the carpark to park our car. After parking the car, my wife and I return to the hotel to enquire about the checkin details. This was when we were served by a male staff, Shimizu. He had no english skill, so communication was difficult. But we were told by him that we cannot check in until 3pm. That is fine. But the male staff giving us a grumpy face and attitude, are you serious? You are in the service line. My mum then took the passport and approach another lady staff who was kind enough to make copies of our passport prior to check in.
When we returned again at 3pm, we handed over a ticket for 4 days car parking. Again, we were served by the male staff, Shimizu. He told me to pay an amount of 5,200 JPY which I did. And said he will keep the carpark ticket to himself and if we need to drive out, he will hand us the ticket. This was a total nonsense, because according to the carpark attendant, we should obtain special tickets from the hotel and hand it to the attendant so he can give us free parking. After a few disagreements with the male staff, Shimizu, he resentfully handed us the 4 special tickets.
You can't be serious. A person working in a hotel with international visitors can't speak english. Furthermore, you have a vulgar attitude? Not to end this, but trying to scam us of our car park ticket? Come on? Ready?
To be honest, if not because of the overly kind car park attendant who told me I have to get him the tickets from the hotel, we probably would encounter plenty more problems ahead organising simply because of car issues.
I am pretty sure some people had great experience here. But not us!
Will I come to this hotel again? NEVER! Will I recommend this...
Read moreI am usually satisfied with Dormy Inn hotels, but this time it was a fiasco. ||||- Our room looked onto a very close wall, so that no light comes into the room. As the room is small, it increases the cramped feeling. ||- We left some luggage for the day, after checking out, when we came to get it back, we were told that no, the umbrellas we had, unfortunatley, forgotten in our room, were not found (?).||- The onsen area is on the second floor, and some very loud people used it, we could hear some people shouting, some water splashing, like in a kids swimming-pool, from our room, at a higher floor. These people were not behaving correctly in the onsen, I think someone from the hotel should make sure and require firmly that all groups and foreign tourists (I believe they were Chinese) respect Japanese traditions: silence and quiet in the onsen place. Hearing them for hours around 22:00 made me decide not to use the onsen, as I knew I would not relax there. ||- The really big issue was breakfast: when we arrived, we were told we had to give our names for a waiting list, and we had to WAIT FOR OVER ONE HOUR! ||I don't know how the hotel manages its reservations and breakfasts, but something needs to be done about it. Waiting with dozens of other people in the lobby for more than one hour is not acceptable. While waiting until 15mn is ok, waiting for 1:10 is absolutely not OK.||Please, Dormy Inn Premium, work on this!||- I could read on the internet that the hotel offers a free taxi service from the train station, but no-one told us, I wish the hotel had contacted me before my arrival to inform me about this. ||||Otherwise, the breakfast itself was fantastic, that...
