This was an absolutely delightful little nook of peace and quiet mixed with ambient instrumental music of a cafe shop! The rustic interior design and cozy feel of the cafe makes you feel like a trip back in time to a more peaceful era. The staff was absolutely wonderful and helpful in explaining menu items that surprised me and made me feel very welcome. The Gorgonzola cheese bread is a must have!! The richness and creamy texture and softly toasted bread really complete the coffee experience here if you don’t have a chance to try their wonderful cakes and other baked items!
My wife and I are not fans of the cigarette smells but I feel at 10:00am it was not overpowering and the coffee fragrance dominates it a little bit.
The delicate style of coffee preparation produces extremely smooth coffee without any burnt aftertaste most places have. The special coffee of the day was a strong bitter but nutty flavor to the palate and with milk it added a robust and deliciously strong flavor to the coffee. The honey latte was a new flavor to try and I found it to be very confusing to my tongue hahahaha. Read moreGorgeous, one-of-a-kind, independent café in a tiny, historic, space built in dark wood. I thoroughly enjoyed the honey latte that was elegantly served in a blue and white Japanese ceramic cup and saucer. I'm allergic to smoke, but I could not turn down this unforgettable experience! Friendly staff and locals.
I am surprised some customers left less than 5 stars, they seem unappreciative; they must not know how increasingly difficult it is to keep alive a small independent business in the face of globalized corporations like Starbucks and Dotour. I hope Kotobuki Cafe will last a long time. Folks, please show some appreciation and support for what still maintains some uniqueness and in-person humanity.

Read moreI loved everything about this place!! Only reason I found this place was my friend who lives in Sapporo. It’s a small coffee shop in old old house.
Location: it is near Tanuki Koji on seafood street. Space was hard core retro. Old house turned into cafe. There was a skinny staircase where ukulele group practices. It’s just so cute.
Coffee: the place also had old traditional drip cold brew system. I had iced latte and it was amazing. We were in a hurry to go to hot spring so we didn’t eat there but they have food.
Staff: there was only one person working there. He looked retro as well— fit in the picture perfectly.
If I live there this place will be my...
