This shop is well known for its fresh and generous donburi bowls, topped with crab, salmon roe, uni, scallops, and thick slices of sashimi. The seafood quality is excellent — very fresh, vibrant in color, and presented beautifully. Both the kaisen don and the kani–ikura don are impressive in portion and balance.
The service here is run by two ladies. The older lady is not very accommodating and comes across a bit distant, which can feel less welcoming. In contrast, the younger lady is very friendly and approachable, with a warm smile and attentive manner that makes guests feel at ease. The difference in service attitude between the two is quite noticeable, but overall the younger staff’s kindness leaves a good impression.
The shop itself is casual and simple, focusing on freshness and value rather than luxury. If you come here, it’s really about enjoying the seafood at its peak quality, and if you’re lucky enough to be served by the younger staff, the experience feels even...
Read moreThe place is located near other very crowded seafood restaurants with lengthy queue. This place however, had little to no queue; I was seated and served with food in about 10 mins. We had salmon roe and sea urchin rice bowls which was very delightful. It is comparable to nearby shops. One aspect to highlight is that the price is one margin higher while the portion is lesser as opposed to the shops in the vicinity, perhaps that's why it had little to no queue.
We had to share tables with others, it felt like they squeezed 6 pax into a table that could comfortably fit 4. The staff can speak English albeit the interaction felt quite reluctant. Let this not take away from the fact that the food is good in taste nonetheless.
I recommend this place for anyone who has deep pockets, isn't particular about portion sizes, want a quick fix to their fresh Japanese seafood craving. If you have the time, you may want to consider elsewhere...
Read moreGot the large bowl and added my own toppings - Tuna, Blue Fin Tuna, Salmon, and Salmon Roe. Very satisfying and fresh. Wait was only 10 min during noontime. This is a place you can count on for quality fish/ seafood and not having to wait long. Other vendors have too long of a wait and we’re not the type to wait an hour plus for food when in Japan you have so many great choices. Would come back here again. There seems to be locals dining here as well.
Going to go off on a tangent with some of the other restaurants in Nijo market just because a “YouTuber” films about it and then everybody goes. Honestly it’s marginally better but there’s so many great local finds if you take the time & use good...
