Came 10 minutes before their lunch hours and was seated shortly after they were opened. Food took another 20 minutes to be served, understandably so as we were quite late into the line. Menu had many pictures which made it intuitive to order, there is an English menu available as well. Three choices of curry broth, shrimp, chicken, oyster (+450 yen), I ordered their signature shrimp curry with Hamburg Steak as the choice of protein. The price is on the higher side (2180 yen) comparing with other soup curry places in the vicinity but this is worth a try.
The shrimp taste is very prominent and provides a novel and fragrant flavour, consistent throughout. The differentiating factor is the volume of the soup is sparse, probably because it is saturated and also slightly viscous - a testimon of its quality. The spice level ranges from level 1 - 12, where level 6 onwards would incur additional charges. I ordered level 5 which indicated very spicy and found that it was borderline spicy. Adventurous diners may want to explore higher levels. The steak is juicy and succulent contrasted by the nicely charred crust. The vegetable complemented the dish, the pumpkin was a highlight.
I would come back again, I recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before the opening hours to...
Read moreThe signature broth here is prawn-based, which is quite special, and I liked it.
I tried the hamburger steak topping with an additional diced steak, and the diced steak really stood out! It had a great sear and a smoky flavor. I think it might be worth trying the steak soup curry instead of the hamburger steak next time, as the hamburger steak wasn't the best I've had.
My husband ordered the seafood curry, which was very satisfying with a variety of seafood and a generous portion. The vegetables were fresh and delicious, and the portion sizes overall are huge!
Halfway through the meal, we asked if we could add more soup, and the waiter placed the order on the tablet for us (extra charges). To our surprise, we waited quite a while for the extra soup, and it seemed they might have cooked it from scratch, as it came with quite a lot of cabbage. The service turnaround wasn't very efficient overall, we ordered while queuing but still had to wait a while after...
Read moreA Sapporo experience! It's connected with the underground network - just exit at exit 23 from Sapporo station near the green metro line. If you know where Ichiryuan is, it's in that restaurant row there and this place is the first of the bunch. It gets a little filled with people around 7pm, but not packed. You'll see a row of chairs just outside with a few menus on it... Just open the sliding doors to enter.
I don't think you can go wrong here - all the curry soups are yummy. My biggest regret is I didn't try what they're famous for - the ebi soup!!! I went safe and had chicken soup, 🤦.. Also, the sweet shrimp tempura has shell on it, FYI. Other than that, the meal was perfect. Remember to order a yogurt drink - your nose is definitely going to run. The regular amount of rice was just enough.
No credit card, just...
