The moment you placed your order, you are presented with a bowl of sesame and wooden pestle. This is for you to grind the sesame before adding in the sweet sauce. I must say it's very therapeutic and the fragrance that filled the air when the sesame is crushed is so appertizing. The tonkutsu or breaded pork cutlet is fried to perfection. Just the right amount of crunch before revealing the juicy, almost melt in the mouth pork fillet inside. The black pig tonkutsu is the best amongst all with a balanced amount of fat vs meat.

Read moreI went for the upgraded pork, the middle priced option with curry. It looked to be darker pork meat. It was tough and the breading fell off the meat in a bad way. Wife had the other upgraded meat which was a bit better and a bit juicier. Both upgraded are not worth it. We should have stuck with the regular pork.
The curry was good but sauce only. Not meat at all.
The white rice was glistening and was really good rice.
This place can get pricey for their top tier meats. Don’t waste your money here. Stick with their cheapest option or you’ll be disappointed.

Good tonkatsu! Even better on a cold day!
The restaurant is small - seven tables - and fairly popular, so you may have to wait.
We found the menu to be good. The katsu curry and the Katsudon were both quite tasty, though I think we both agree with some of the criticism about the portions being a bit small for the price. With that said, we left full and had a good experience.
