Teshikaga Ramen Sapporo, located in the iconic Ramen Yokocho (Ramen Alley), is a hidden gem among Hokkaido’s renowned ramen bars. Within a 5-minute walk from Susukino Station, this cozy spot offers an unforgettable ramen experience. We visited during the busy Christmas season, and like many popular ramen bars in Sapporo, the demand was high. It’s advisable to arrive early and request a ticket from the staff who will inform the approximate wait time. This gave us an opportunity to explore the area and do a bit of window shopping before returning for our meal. Do not expect to get a table as you walk in. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the chef and his assistant exuded professionalism and warmth. The chef, in particular, was remarkably friendly while expertly preparing his signature bowls of ramen. Ordering is done through a vending machine with a simple, focused menu, a hallmark of confidence in their craft. Each bowl is crafted with care, and you can truly taste the pride and dedication in every bite. The flavors are rich and perfectly balanced, showcasing why Sapporo is a ramen lover’s paradise. With so much competition in the area, Teshikaga Ramen stands out as a must-visit destination for anyone seeking authentic Hokkaido ramen.

Teshikage is an outstanding ramen place in this “ramen alley” at Susukino. It’s more in the middle and is one of the few places that has queues (the other being Haruka). We came early enough for it to be a 15 minute wait but by the time we finished, the queue grew longer! Be warned. It’s crowded outside and it’s crowded and small inside. But the wait is well worth it. I ordered the spicy miso butter corn with bbq pork and added more egg and cha siu. For sides I went with the chicken karage while my friend ordered the non-spicy version and special gyoza. Altogether at the time of writing, my order came out to $12 for those extras which is fantastic (if maybe even in the more expensive end compared to other ramen joints). But what we get is this hearty miso broth with springy noodles, sweet corn and wonderfully cooked egg. In my opinion, the chasiu can be charred a bit more and needed to be softer, but it was still delicious. The karage is crispy on the outside, soft juicy and tender in the inside and fried to perfection! The gyoza is fantastic and extra leeky if you like leeks! Overall! Fantastic place in Susukino! Also if you speak Japanese, the owner will converse with you for a bit!

We ordered the Hokkaido fried chicken, spicy miso ramen with everything + snow crab, and the spicy miso ramen with scallop + snow crab. Best ramen we’ve had in Japan. Hands down. There’s a delicious smokiness to the flavour that comes from (I assume) the fire the chef cooks the vegetables with. Excellent toppings. Highly recommend going for the snow crab addition (super light and sweet) - and my husband went with the scallops in lieu of the ham and that was also to die for. The spiciness is in the minced meat topping - which meant the broth held its depth of flavour without being overpowered by spice. The Hokkaido chicken was also unique to any fried chicken I’ve had in Japan (I’ve had a *lot*) so worth trying! Also, the man seating us and keeping the queue in order was so friendly and nice - actually as we’re the chefs! The master ramen maker even came out to help me find the door when I was being a bit of a muppet. We got in the queue at 8:44pm with 18 people ahead of us and we’re seated and eating by 9:15. We were both happy we had waited for the best ramen ever.

Came in on a cool and windy spring evening after a long train journey from Kushiro. We were welcomed at the door, and invited in from the cold. The shop is small, seats 10-12, and is clearly a popular spot: at 5pm they were the only place with customers waiting outside waiting for them to open. We ordered the deer char-siu miso ramen with a side of buttered corn (pictured), char-siu miso ramen, some leek gyoza and beers. I'd heard this place was good, and was not disappointed. The deer was a generous thick cut, tender and juicy. I was very happy that the broth was rich and flavoursome without being too salty. The gyoza were a perfect accompaniment to the ramen. The gentleman who welcomed us in was a great host - if you are reading this: thank you for your excellent hospitality. I'm really happy with the experience and food, 10/10 will definitely be back again next time I'm in Sapporo.

We needed to wait 20 minutes for the table on Sunday 6pm. After we were welcomed into the shop, we needed to do self ordering at the machine and made payment, and each person needed to order at least one item. There were only a maximum of 20 guests in the shop as the shop was quite small. The chefs were preparing the ramen in front of us. The aroma made us more hungry. We ordered the 1980 yen version, which included seafood, snow crab leg, and BBQ pork. The soup base was delicious. It was not salty at all as most people commented miso base was very salty. The noodle was bouncy and all ingredients were fresh. We finished all soup until last drop. WOW. 5 stars Actually we bought the instant noodle from Teshikaga from the supermarket and had tried and found it very salty. Today after we trued from the shop, the soup base and taste were different from the instant noodle version.

Teshikaga Ramen in Sapporo's renowned Ramen Alley is a standout option for those seeking an authentic and delightful ramen experience. We noted the sincere and heartfelt effort that goes into crafting each bowl, which is evident in the final product. The texture of the ramen noodles is as pleasantly chewy, and the broth is as being high-quality and satisfying, leaving us not feeling overly thirsty afterwards. The pricing is also noted as more than reasonable for the quality. Even though this was our second choice after the first shop had a long queue, Teshikaga Ramen still managed to impress and meet the high standards expected in this ramen-centric district. The friendly, smiling service from the staff was an added bonus. Overall, Teshikaga Ramen seems to deliver a genuinely crafted and enjoyable ramen meal, making it a worthy destination along Sapporo's famous Ramen Alley.
