You dont go to Sapporo and not try the Hokkaido specialty of miso ramen. So I did what any good tourist would do and went to the famous ramen alley. I'm not going to lie, I saw a line and stood in it with no preconceived notions because I literally had no idea what this place was called until I was close enough to see the name almost 30 minutes later. A quick Google search revealed this was a famous ramen joint and the reviews were all stellar (insert skepticism). So of course, I waited 2 hours in the middle of winter for this bowl of ramen and let me tell you, it was worth the wait. The restaurant seats 8 people and all the cooking is done by 1 man. While you wait in line the sole other worker will hand out cards with a qr code which leads to an online menu. You can pre-order your food and drinks so when you walk in he already knows what to make for you. Unless you come 30 minutes to an hour before they open, you are waiting in line. When I arrived there were only 15 people in front of me and by the time there were 7, the line behind me was nearly to the end of the block. I ordered the miso garlic ramen with egg, leeks and corn. I ordered a large portion and was unprepared for just how big it was, fortunately waiting in the cold works up an appetite. My ramen was amazing and every person in the restaurant with me all said theirs was delicious. I have never been to such a quite place, the only sounds were him cooking and us slurping up noodles and broth, it was great. This is not a vegetarian/vegan place to eat. They have 1 option but you would really be missing out on the experience and flavors the chef creates. They offer almost every payment method I've ever heard of including the big ones, visa, mastercard and wepay. With an alcoholic beverage and my soup my bill was ¥2100, so not only was the ramen some of the best I've ever had but also affordable. The chef is super nice and a true craftsman who clearly loves what he does. I will come back here and wait hours everytime to have more of this ramen!

Be ready to wait in line, but the long line tells the wait is definitely worth it 💯 The location is within the heart of Suskino and you will not miss it because among the ramen joints you will find in the Ramen Alley, they have the longest line indeed. We waited about 45min. We were assisted by the only assistant of the chef, yes they only have 2 staff but the quality of their service, topnotch! We had their bestsellers, their Salt Ramen with Kelp and Scallops, the Miso Cheese ramen, and their version of gyoza. Large bowls for each with extra roasted pork toppings, still fair for the price. The gyoza was okay. The star of the meal was THE SALT RAMEN WITH KELP AND SCALLOPS, yes ALL CAPS. The broth was a taste of heaven, you will want for more! We were eating large bowls and we finished everything. The broth was silky smooth, and that slimy texture from the kelp made it extra special. The ramen noodles, scallops and roasted pork, cooked to perfection. We can eat this for a long time. Perfect taste indeed. (We are ramen lovers). The ingredients were harmonious in a large bowl of love. 🤍 The second ramen that we had, the Miso Cheese Ramen. We had the hot spicy version so if you’re not into spicy try the other versions. The hotness from the spices were sustained throughout the meal. The cheese melted and mixed well with the noodles. If you love cheese like me, you have to try this! We paired our meal with cold Asahi beer 🍺 and a sake, the beer though was a better option. Do visit them! Must visit ramen in Sapporo 🍜

SAPPORO RAMEN HARUKA This is the one of the first stores you see when you come to Sapporo’s Ramen Yokocho street. It’s a small shop with about 8 seats, yet people still patiently waited outside in the cold night air of Sapporo. We waited for about 30 minutes. I ordered their Cheese Miso Ramen with extra grated garlic and it was amazing. The noodles were firm but not so much that it was tough to chew, the broth was rich yet smooth, and the cheese adds a subtle acidity which is a flavor I’m not used to when consuming ramen - and yet it was still absolutely delicious. The gyoza I ordered was also good, the skin was thin enough to not be chewy but also not so paper thin as to break so easily. I would recommend this shop to anyone who loves ramen. As for criticism, I found that the cheese miso ramen itself lacks texture and substance. While the soup was thick and satisfactory, there was nothing to bite on like a piece of chashu or even bamboo shoots. It resulted in a bit of a gooey noodle dish that you pretty much just slurp on. Also as mentioned earlier, the cheese adds a mild acidity that I thought didn’t quite work - but to be fair, I’m on the side that prefers traditional ramen flavors more than experimental ones. It is still worth coming here to try it out and see for yourself if it fits your palate. Criticism aside, I can at least guarantee that this is excellent quality ramen.

I would highly recommend as there is the traditional and non traditional creation of ramen. The owner seems to have a love of heavy metal, had a Flying V guitar on the wall and some pictures of metal bands. 🤟🏼Maybe that is why he doesn’t conform to just traditional ramen. It is a well worn, cozy place that seats about 10 people at one time. On Google it says that Sapporo Ramen Haruka opens at 12pm we got there early 11:45am thinking we would beat the rush. The owner kindly invited us in before 12, along with two other people. As soon as we sat down, I noticed that he immediately warmed up 4 soup bowls for our pending orders. My wife ordered the Butter Corn Ramen (local favourite) and I had the non traditional Garlic and Basil Cheese Ramen added Char Siu. Both of them were really tasty and soup flavourful. The owner uses the same soup base, flavourful and light. For my Garlic Basil Ramen he stir fried the garlic put it in the bowl and then added the same soup based and then the dried Basil. If you like cheese then this it the right one, see the pictures. We would give it 4.5 stars, however Google doesn’t allow that. Go and enjoy their ramen.

Sapporo Ramen Haruka is a hidden gem of a ramen shop that we stumbled upon. Prior to visiting Sapporo, we had heard that the ramen here differs greatly from what you find in Tokyo. The shop is located at the corner of a street and a small alley, making it a bit challenging to find. Inside, there are only eight seats, and there was a substantial queue of people waiting when we arrived. The shop is run solely by the owner, who handles tasks such as noodle preparation, stir-frying toppings, taking orders, cashing out customers, and washing dishes. It was evident that the owner was very busy, but they managed everything with remarkable efficiency. Although the waiting time was a bit long, considering that only one person was managing all eight seats, it was quite a challenging feat. We were famished and decided to order three bowls of ramen between the two of us. In the end, we successfully polished off every bowl. The ramen had a rich and flavorful broth, making it especially suitable for enjoying during the snowy winters. It was truly satisfying to savor a piping hot bowl of ramen when we were so hungry.

Me and my sister were on our way to explore Sapporo, Hokkaido and encountered this lovely alley and we immediately decided to wait there for lunch. Our decision was one of the highest points through out the entire trip, first of all the wait time can be lengthy during the rush hour since the store only provides less than 10 seats overall. However, the waitress came out and offered a hot drink for us so we could have something warm to our hand while waiting for our meal. After 45 minutes of waiting, we have entered the restaurant and our order was almost done since we had a chance to order via QR code. It was the best miso ramen I ever had in a really long time. The broth was thick while full of flavor, it was not greasy at all and the after taste was spicy and decadent at the same time. My sister ordered the garlic flavor broth right away you can tell it is made from scratch and not greasy and not very salty. Overall we had a great lunch time and would recommend to anyone who enjoys a bowl of ramen in any occasion. If we ever coming back to Sapporo we would definitely be back!
