I knew of this cafe because an old friend of mine who lived in Sendai told me an interesting story of how this cafe started out, and recommended me to visit. I was truly inspired that the story of Gospel Cafe started when a man loved making coffee more than anything else in this world, but one day he received a wonderful dream to start this cafe and to be a blessing to the people. With only a few money allowance and a dream, Gospel Cafe was born and the cafe became a hit when it first opened in 2021.
It was only until Corona hit Japan, and nothing was spared. People stopped coming to the cafe, and the owner was on the verge of giving up on the dream to keep the cafe alive.
Although I was merely a visitor from Singapore, coming into the cafe for the first time felt like I was coming home as the staff served me a Houjicha latte. The Houjicha latte was served hot, and the houjicha with milk was a good combination with the seasonal waffle with ice cream that comes with fresh fruits, and chocolate drizzle! The waffle came out well, as it was fluffy and soft on the inside. The taste was light and not overly sweet, which complimented well with the ice cream! I was impressed with the presentation of the waffle - it looked presentable yet there are soo many pretty colours that it makes me look forward to take a photo before eating it!
I really enjoyed the food and drink! I will come back for the Uji Houjicha Latte (I recommend this)! I appreciate the staff for the hard work making the food and drink, but I hope the food will be served faster so that I don't have to wait so long....
Read moreI recently discovered this hidden gem in Sendai, and I couldn't be happier with my experience at this cafe. From the moment I stepped in, I was captivated by the charming wood interior that exudes warmth and coziness. It's the perfect place to unwind, catch up on work, or dive into a good book while enjoying a cup of coffee.
The availability of wifi and charging ports is an absolute bonus, making it an ideal spot for those seeking a productive environment. The staff is friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall inviting ambiance.
The Karaage Don was flavorful and Cafe Latte has a right balance of rich coffee flavor. I'm looking forward to try their cheesecake next!
Overall, I highly recommend this cafe to anyone in search of a comfortable and welcoming space to work, study, or simply relax. Combine that with the delicious offerings and friendly atmosphere, and you've got a winning combination. This place has quickly become a favorite of mine, and I can't...
