OKADA — Restaurant in Tokushima

First, I just want to apologise for the owner for the trouble caused by serving two forigners who don't speak Japanese. Although the chef did not speak English, we are thankful we made it work with the translator app.

For the actual review, OKADA was an absolute highlight of our trip. Inside was elegant, with seats facing the counter so you can see and talk with the chief as he cooks. The chef has a different set menu for each night showcases the local dishes. Our course was: Raw Tuna and roe Soup with local mushrooms and Naruto tai fish Awa beef with sweet miso paste and rice

All for only 5000yen pp

Everything was amazing but the highlights were the crunchy homemade pickled vegetables, the local mushrooms in the miso, and the fresh flavour of the Naruto tai. The chief really shows the best flavours...

I bumped into the restaurant without planned and it was a great experience. The food was full of the chef’s style, fresh, authentic, creative and a touch of Tokushima originality. I enjoyed the eels & prawn pot with veggie, plus never forget the self-made miso with beef...

Compact yet good authentic Japanese food restaurant with cozy and good service and atmosphere.
