Went there on March 3, 2025 .
We arrived at around 11:30 , ordered 2 different sets of yakiniku and 1 cucumber side dish.
The food was delicious as usual, the cucumber side dish was really good. All the food were well worth the price as usual.
We finished eating close to 12:30, on that day the weather was cold and windy, so after we finished eating, we take our time to put on our jackets... And not long before, we were asked to go by one of the employee, he wasn't rude to push us go... The staff came to our table and said "time" , at that moment I thought we've been eating for 2 hours , so they have no choice but to asked us go(still polite), and when I went to paid our bills , the employee kept apologizing saying sorry, at that moment I still thought we've been eating for 2 hours , but after I went out the restaurant and checked the time, I realized we've been only in the restaurant close to one hour, it's only 12:30ish....
When we were outside the restaurant, we saw 2 Japanese men were waiting for a table, and no other people waiting, I can only guessed they have to rush us out to get the table for the 2 Japanese men, so they can eat and go back to their office on time?
This wasn't the first time we came to this branch, we always go to this location when we were in Tokyo, sometimes we'd go for 2 times during our trip in Tokyo, we've been to the branch in Ueno too, but this nihon Bashi branch is our favorite.
Before this lunch experience, we did planned to go to this branch before we leave Tokyo, but after experiencing yakiniku with time limit of 1 hour, we didn't go again. Afraid I'll have to rush eating the yakiniku...
I'd definitely go to Tokyo again, but I just don't know if I'll visit this used to be my favorite yakiniku place in...
Read moreI recently dined at Bouya with a 7 pm reservation, and the experience was disappointing. The premium beef set for 2-3 people was indeed delicious and worth recommending. However, the service and attitude were extremely unfriendly. Upon arrival, we were not greeted and waited at the reception area without any acknowledgment. When a male server finally approached us, he did not inquire about our reservation status and informed us there was no table available. It was only after my friend mentioned our reservation and showed the confirmation email that we were finally seated at the bar that is literally next to a door. Throughout the meal, the service was lackluster—our server did not offer any assistance or check on us. We had to press “call” button multiple times to ask for drinks(water), the bill, and even cooking instructions for our meat. To make matters worse, while the staff warmly welcomed other customers in Japanese, we were ignored. Despite the restaurant claiming to be fully booked, there were empty seats next to us throughout our meal.
After dining at various other restaurants where I experienced professional and courteous service in Japan in the past few weeks, my visit to this establishment was a stark contrast. I was left wondering if I had somehow done something wrong or if my outfit wasn't considered appropriate, but there was no dress code specified. This restaurant’s service fell far short of expectations and overshadowed the quality...
