The hotel itself is located in a good location and has a staff that speaks a decent level of English to help foreign tourists to get familiar with the property and surrounding locations. Primarily a business hotel, there are rooms with washers and driers, but in our booking (through a 3rd party site) it wasn't clear which rooms had them. We ended up without, although the staff does have the location of a laundromat within about 15 minutes walking distance among other amenities and they can direct you to. However, like many things in Japan, this convenient location also means very close proximity to high travel areas so you will have to put up with some noise pollution. We didn't notice the pedestrians or regular traffic but a Tokyo Fire Station is very close and we did hear sirens for the trucks and ambulances at least once every morning and night.
The hotel itself is about 5 minutes walk from 2 Family Marts, a Lawson's and a Mini Stop, so you should have your choice of convenience shops for daily sundries and pulling money out of an ATM for tourists. It's also located about 10 minutes walking from the JR Kanda Station (1 stop away from Tokyo Station), making it a convenient location if you're relying on the JR Rail Pass for your travel in and around the city. There are also a few Tokyo Metro stops within the same distance, so getting around the city is not an issue, no matter your chosen method of travel.
The room we stayed in was slightly larger than a previous stay at an APA Hotel, but still had the same business hotel feel. With two people in the room it was small, but not unpleasantly so, and we mainly used it for sleeping and the daily needs, but who pays to go to Japan to sit in their hotel anyway? My one complaint about the room was the cleaning schedule, for a two week stay the room was cleaned once. This wasn't an issue when it came to general cleanliness or sundries as we weren't that dirty, making our own bed every morning was not an issue for us, and the various sundries you might need are located right by the elevators. What did become annoying was the trash.
For tourists we knew to separate the combustibles and non combustibles as well as our PET bottles and aluminium cans, but after that we didn't know where to take them. It'd be nice to see an option to have your trash taken away more often, be able to leave it in the hallway for collection, or at least information on where to take it after sorting it yourself.
The breakfast on offer can be had for about 300 yen a day if you reserve it at booking, or 500 yen a day if purchased after your arrival. It's well worth the price if you're looking for a convenient breakfast option, although we usually bought ours from a convenience store. It's on what seems to be a weekly rotation with different options every day, so you might see the same menu if you stay longer than a week. The breakfast is buffet style with multiple options so accommodating particular dietary needs/preferences shouldn't be an issue. Do be prepared for it to be busy at certain hours depending on how many people are staying in the hotel and taking advantage of the prepared food, however, as the only seating is what's available in the hotel lobby.
Overall, the Tokyu Stay is a solid choice for a hotel without breaking your budget as long as you're willing to compromise on the available amenities on site. The staff is professional and friendly, greeting us every time we entered or left the property, and the hotel has gone out of its way to find the things a traveler would need in a convenient walking radius. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again on a...
Read moreIt's a very small hotel but very nice, and I enjoyed my stay there. I stayed for 17 nights in an economy room. It was during Golden Week and I could only get an economy smokers room. The economy room is too small for long stays, and there is no washer and storage space, but I could manage okay. I'm not a smoker, and the smoke smell was quite strong but disappeared after a few days.
The hotel breakfast is good enough, and the so is the room cleaning. If you have a long stay the room will be cleaned only once per week. Laundry service is expensive but very good. I used it once and the rest of the time I used a coin laundry within 10 minutes walking distance. The Shin-Nihonbashi station is very close so you can get to the airports with little expense, but you will need to carry your luggage up/down 2 flights of stairs. There is an elevator within the ticket gates so you can take it once inside.
My favourite part of my stay was the staff who were all so helpful to me. I was staying here alone for a long time, and it was my first time in Japan. So they were very kind in giving me advice and helping me find my way around Tokyo. They were also willing to listen to my stories about the crazy experiences I had and the crazy characters I met! The Chinese girl at the lobby desk was especially friendly, and the very professional girl who was almost always on the desk was also...
Read moreI've never stayed at this location, but in the past prior to covid I've stayed in the Ginza location and Takanawa location several times. The other locations have been spotless including the washing machine. I love having the washing machine in the room so I don't have to fight with other patrons for a machine.
This trip however was subpar compared to the other locations. I had booked my room my first 2 nights without the washer and the final 6 nights of my trip here with a washer. My bathroom smelled like wet dog the whole time and I just noticed that all of my clean clothes smell like wet dog mildew smell as well when I got home. So now I have to rewash everything as I can't wear and stand that smell. My first room was okay smelling. I was given room 612 for my stay I just completed.
The staff at the front desk was nice and service was okay there. I'm not too sure about the house keeping. I was given new towels and garbage emptied. I understand no sheet change under 6 days, but why wasn't my coffee cups replaced if I used them? It's not like I was provided dish soap to wash them. My coffee cups were very obvious they were used along with spoons but not once I was given clean cups.
I'm not sure if I'll return to this location, the bathroom smell was quite obnoxious along with not so...
