Since I came to Kojimachi, I went to Ajanta for lunch (o^^o)
The red exterior is stylish and has a restaurant-like atmosphere✨ The inside of the store also looks like a restaurant, making me wonder if it is really an Indian restaurant. lol
I was guided to a seat on the second floor, so I went up the stairs to the second floor (°▽°) It's quite spacious with 2 floors (´∀`) Since it started before 11 o'clock, there were only 2 groups of customers ahead of us!! ️ They let me sit at the very back with a nice view. Well, what you can see is a 7-Eleven (゚▽゚)
When you look at the menu, the cover says [Mughal Empire's rich chicken curry], which really grabs your attention (・∀・)
ToDay, ◯Stimulating consommé rasam (¥400) ・It seemed to have a mild taste because it contained tomatoes and spices, but when I ate it, it was extremely spicy!! ️ It was so painful that I was surprised :(;゙゚'ω゚'): The taste was delicious, but it was really spicy (><)
◯Lunch pair of 2 curries of your choice and rice or bread (¥1,650) and cheese naan (+¥100) ・We chose AJANTA's original curry chicken curry and AJANTA's quintessential mutton curry. The chicken curry is also surprisingly spicy (^◇^;) The chicken was soft and the meat was delicious without being spicy (((o(゚▽゚)o))) The mutton curry was the most gentle. lol I love mutton curry (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵) Today, I was quite healed by the cheese naan I ate on the way ✨
◯Indian beer Kingfisher Beer goes well when it’s spicy! This was pretty good in terms of putting the right person in the right place (゚∀゚)
All the dishes are sophisticated and delicious, so I recommend starting with the mild ones.
So, Ajanta was very satisfying, delicious and spicy!! ️ Thank you for...
Read moreThere’s this old-school Indian restaurant in Tokyo that first opened back in 1957—basically one of the pioneers of Indian food in Japan. When I used to work nearby about 30 years ago, the place was actually open 24 hours. After those ridiculously late nights at the office, I’d sometimes end up here for curry before heading home. Tonight, my Indian colleague said he’s a big fan of the place, so I tagged along—my first visit in three decades.
The mission for the night: Indian wine. We ordered a bit of everything—starters, mutton, chicken, even dessert—and paired it all with bottles of Sula Sauvignon Blanc and Grover red, both of which are pretty well-regarded internationally. The food here isn’t watered down for Japanese taste buds, so it’s properly spicy, which of course meant the wine kept flowing a little...
Read moreIt was wonderful to discover an Indian restaurant in Tokyo and know that as a vegetarian I could easily eat there so A+ from the vegetarian me. The server male was also extremely understanding when I ordered something that I wasn't expecting and was uncomfortable eating it. From the Indian food loving me, I was a bit disappointed by the tastes. I do realize I am a bit spoiled living in Vancouver BC Canada. That being said, it was a slightly expensive restaurant where the chickpeas were a bit hard, the spinach saag paneer was canned type spinach, the paneer cheese was tough and the mango lassi wasn't blended - the unblended lassi Kinda threw me off I'll admit - I've never seen...
