We were very lucky that this restaurant took us in even though they are already very busy. We previously went to three other Italian restaurants in the area but was treated very coldly, but the receptionist at Elio Locanda Italiana was very nice and welcoming. We were pretty drenched from the rain and were invited to wait inside first. They first directed us to a sit by the entrance to the kitchen, but after seeing us facing difficulty squeezing into the two seats, they were very kind to shift us to a more comfortable seat in a quieter area of the restaurant. Every staff in the restaurant were on task and we were able to quickly get our food even though the place is packed! When the staff found out that we are sharing the pastas and beef, they informed the kitchen side to split the food for us. The food is very authentic and taste good too! I’ve never been to Italy before but my friend did, and he said it really tasted very much like what you can find in Italy. The restaurant owner also took time to do table service for all the customers, and let us try their unsweetened cakes. Will definitely recommend everyone to try this place.
P.S: if you are a foreigner, do not bother to go to , they are very...
Read moreNumerous and efficient service, relatively decent wine list, good focaccia. But the level of any Italian eatery, especially osteria/locanda type is valued by the way they make pasta. And both my wife’s and mine were horrendous. My wife’s fettuccine were thick and heavy, their weight being beaten completely down by a cream sauce (she ordered fettuccine with salmon cream sauce). I ordered seafood spaghetti in white wine sauce. The only seafood that I could find in my plate were abalone and scallops. Considered to be premium seafood in Japan – when served raw on sushi. Hard and dry when cooked well-done and being thrown into a slightly oiled spaghetti, not “sticking” to it all – I didn’t find any traces of white wine sauce. The resulting bill was the same level as in our favourite Italian ristorante in Ginza. As it happened, it was our last meal in Japan after 1-month long trip around the country. And it was the worst pasta that we managed to get, and we ate in Italian or calling themselves such places all over...
Read moreFirst of all, I wish I lived in Japan so I could experience this more often. I came into the restaurant in a bad mood and left super joyed!! The food was spectacular, and I wouldn’t be exaggerating if I said it was probably one of the best meals of my life. As an extremely picky eater, I was beyond pleased. Next, the service. Although quite busy, the workers managed to put a smile on everybody’s faces, and I felt like I was back in Italy! I’m pretty sure the owner was also here, and even though he was helping out with service, he was still super conversational and welcoming towards the customers. Additionally, although not huge, the restaurant was so gorgeous and felt just like Italy. The entire vibe of the place made me want to go straight back to Italy immediately and I’m now even more upset I’ll be leaving Japan soon. 100/10, no exaggeration (even from a teenager perspective). Hope to visit Japan again and come straight back (on my birthday so I can get sung to just like one of the...
