If the restaurant owners are reading reviews, please take my advice into consideration. Based on previous reviews the quality has gone downhill. What's clear to me is that this restaurant lacks consistency and blasting through orders like it's a party game.
I went in because i wanted to have a meal before places started closing. Not bothering to check any reviews as I've done with most places.
The food i had today was the worst I had in Japan. Gyozas were overcooked with parts burnt. They were so bland that the burnt parts were the only flavour. The ramen ingredients were either overcooked (egg and meats) or undercooked (bamboo shoots and noodles) with nothing in between. The ramen broth smelt and tasted muddied like it was prepared days ago, left to age, and has been in a state of being heated on and off.
I ate just to get my money's worth and left as quick as i could. I went to a konbini afterwards because i genuinely felt i would get something more nutritious and delicious inside me.

This place served exactly what I was craving. Love how you can crush on your own garlic clove into your food. Discovered after I got my ramen they had a ¥400 menu of quick bites...I'll get it next time. Wait staff speak English so no need to be shy, follow your nose to the good smells and they'll go through the ordering process. Have ready, don't forget to hit the button to issue change. I'm going again before I leave for Osaka :)

Read moreBankara's Akihabara shop is my favorite ramen place in Tokyo. The noodles are fresh and delicious, the broth rich and savory, and the kakuni tender and filling.
I had a very pleasant experience with the staff at Bankara. They were warm and kind every time I visited, and when I told them that I was unfortunately not going to be back for awhile, one of them joined me at the door when I left to say goodbye and tell me they were glad to have met me.
Even if I don't get to return to Japan for years, Bankara will be in my heart and my thoughts for a long time to...
