As Indonesian mysef, I can say that the taste is quite authentic. I ordered nasi goreng (fried rice) and ayam goreng (fried chicken) with a reasonable price. Both are delicious and somehow the ingredients are really fresh Indonesian taste, not like a Japanese version of Indonesian food. I also like the sambal (chili). They are not using the bottled chili sauce, instead using a fresh chili as vegetables. I know it is quite hard to get Indonesian ingredients in Japan so instead of trying to cook yourself, instead just go to this place. The location is really close to the Okubo Station and not far from this place, there is also Indonesian store that I highly recommend. The only cons I can share is there is no elevator and the restaurant is at the second floor. It would be a bit troublesome for baby stroller or person...
Located on the 3rd floor along Okubo Street at the north exit of Okubo-Sta. We visited there for lunch on holidays. The restaurant is with about 20 seats at tables, and run by an Indonesian woman as a waitress and two men in the kitchen. Smoking seemed to be allowed inside the restaurant in a separated booth by the window. This time, I ordered the fried tilapia set and stir-fried tempeh. When the order was placed, the sound and smell of the deep fryer made me hungry, and it took about 10 minutes to arrive while quenching my thirst with Bintang beer. The set includes one tilapia/vegetables/sambal/shrimp crackers/rice on a plate, and stir-fried tempeh is stir-fried tempeh and vegetables. The thlapia is called izumidai in Japan, and it is a white meat with a flaky flavor, really tastes like Thai food, and is great when eaten with sambal, which is like Indonesian-style Thai rice. Tempeh is a natto paste that tastes great when stir-fried with vegetables, and it also goes well with beer. While we were eating, customers came in one after another and the place became full. It was a...
Read moreI tried the nasi goreng with egg and satay topping for 1000 yen. The lime leaves flavor in the satay was very noticeable. I also ordered tahu isi for 600 yen, but it wasn’t what I expected. The filling wasn't much, and it tasted a bit different. One suggestion though, since the space isn’t large, they should improve the maintenance of the smoking area since the separator is just a curtain. The non-smoking area can smell the smoke, which is quite bothersome. Also note that they...
