Tokyo, Japan | 8 Cozy Hotels with Private Open-Air Hot Springs - Affordable and Awesome!

Location is good but hotel room had many issues. On the first night the air conditioning unit didn't work in the room. We brought this up to the front desk staff and they came to the room and changed a few settings and said to wait. We waited another hour and the room was still really hot and the air conditioning unit started leaking water onto the sofa bed and pillows. We also noticed some black stains on the wall which shows that this appears to be a recurring issue with this unit and room. I bring this up to the front desk again and they had a look at the unit and saw the leaking water and all they said was they would look in the morning when the manager was in. Well we couldn't use the air conditioning unit now since it was leaking water and didn't want to cause water damage or cause a short circuit so the unit has to be off the whole night till it can be looked at again. All they offered was to change the bedsheets but not even replace the pillows that had water from the air conditioning unit drop on it so we refused to use them. I asked if we can change to a different but they didn't offer us any room replacement so we had to sleep with the front door open as the hallway was much cooler than the room which was extremely unsafe but we had no choice as it was very late at night and the 35 degree heat in the room was unbearable. The next morning we spoke with the manager and they had a look at the unit. They said we were at fault for setting the unit to 18 degrees when it can only work to 20 degrees but nowhere in the manual does it say that we can't have the unit at 18 degrees. They refused to compensate us for the first night and refused to give us a different room even though we had to sleep with the front door open. Unprofessional behaviour and service from the front desk staff. Another issue was the motion sensor lights and bathroom that make so much noise when you walk near it which was annoying. The shower drain also is not cleaned regularly so the shower does not drain properly. In the end, we recommend you stay somewhere else. The price is not worth it for the subpar level of service. Only positives are the location of the hotel and the free drinks in the room fridge.

Fantastic Stay with a True Japanese Vibe **Check-In and Staff Efficiency:** I arrived mid-week around 6 PM and the front desk staff were quick and efficient. Check-in was a breeze - just a basic info form and a passport check. **Room Experience:** I stayed in the Standard Room (1 King bed, and Upper Bunk bed) on the first floor, room 104. The design and aesthetic of the room truly added to my Japan experience. A word of caution if you tend to jump in your sleep ….watch out for the low headspace on the bunk bed! **Location and Convenience:** The hotel's proximity to Shin-Okubo station is incredibly convenient. For dining, there are tons of places down the street, plus a Lawson and 7/11 with atm just a 5-minute walk away. The hotel also has a drink vending machine in the lobby, a nice touch for quick refreshments. (several more drink machines at the end of the street) **Facilities and Amenities:** The room, including the washroom and shower, is cozy - typical of Japan, but I had no issues even at 230lbs and 5’12”. The lobby also has umbrellas and ear plugs available for guests, which is very thoughtful. **Noise Level:** A small note: the soundproofing isn't perfect. I could hear people in the hallway, so something to consider if you're a light sleeper. There are very frequent trains, being so near to the station. (But they provide earplugs at the front desk) **Service:** The staff were super friendly and polite. Their service really made my stay pleasant. **Cleanliness:** The hotel is very clean, maintaining high standards in both the rooms and common areas. **Wi-Fi:** Wi-Fi speeds were good, averaging 30-60Mbps during the day and 10-20Mbps at night. **Overall Experience:** This hotel is amazing - it not only met but exceeded my expectations. No complaints at all! *Review edited and structured with the help of ChatGPT, an AI language model developed by OpenAI.

Our group was here for a week as our last hotel in Japan. Location is great - close to everything and the train. You can consume the free drinks in the fridge and they are prompt with replacing towels as needed.

A few outlets by the bed didn't work and the shower drain had not been cleaned out, so it was slow to drain. As other reviews have said, there is a motion sensor light near the bathroom by the front door.

We had an issue with the AC the first night, and had to sleep without it. It had also leaked onto the sofa bed below and there were already signs of water damage on the wall when we entered the room. We're extremely disappointed with the way things were handled - blame was put on us regarding the problem even though we notified staff about the issue right away and twice more that same night. It's brutal to sleep without even a fan in the summer heat. We had asked to replace the wet pillows, but only pillowcases were given. I hope that management can better compensate for issues like this and outline details in the rulebook, rather than tell us it's our fault.

We had no choice but to stay at this hotel for the rest of the week, since there weren't other options for...
