Stayed 2 nights in April 2025. Location was great with easy access to public transport, restaurants and shops/stores. It's definitely not a 3 star hotel. Room has some smell. Mattress and blanket were old and should be replaced. Patches on the wall could be repainted. Toilet/bathroom is very outdated.
My biggest concern is safety of belongings. The receptionist who I believed was also the owner of the business who's fluent in English said we must hand over our room key whenever we leave our room. Unlike cards at other hotels, we were given a key. Upon our return, the receptionist would hand the keys back to us. I've never encountered such policy but assumed it was just a control to prevent people from loosing their keys and to enable staff to clean our room when we're out.
Before checkout, I had a pinkish AmyParis shirt in my luggage that I wanted to wear but couldn't find it. It was in my luggage when I checked in. Searched the whole room but couldn't find it either. I raised this with the lady/owner at the reception as well as my suspicion of theft. She replied saying that only cleaners would enter the room for cleaning and they were international students who she trusted. She even raised her hand saying "I swear they wouldn't do such a thing" and she said sorry that this happened to us. As a customer, this is not good enough for me. I want to see proof, at least CCTV footage of staff entering and exiting my room. I don't recall seeing CCTV cameras installed in the building which is a big concern.
The lady/owner then inspected our room but again the shirt's still missing. She said sorry again but as a customer, I felt there should be some sort of compensation. In the end, we just left. I told her to contact us if she finds my shirt. This whole incident had delayed our checkout by 2 hours. We had to delay our train ride to Hakone and cancel some activities.
It's been 39 days since I checked out of this place. 34 days since I left Japan. Today while looking for one of my yellow uniqlo lambswool sweater, I realised it was stolen at this place too. Anyone planning to stay here should lock all your luggage before leaving the room.
Most travellers would store luxury items in a safe provided by the hotel or carry them when leaving the room. I've never had to do this for clothes. It's shocking that their staff would open your luggage when cleaning your room. Not saying all staff would do this but there is at least one who should be fired for theft. There should be due diligence to check their staff before and after they complete their shift. For example, check if they are hiding any clothing by wearing extra layer of clothing underneath their own clothing, checking their bag etc.
There's a review 2 years ago about a similar incident where guest found out someone had eaten her strawberries and also gradually stole pharmaceutical and cosmetic products during her stay. It wasn't obvious to her at the beginning because things were stolen bit by bit over the course of her stay. Interesting that her review was written two years ago because the lady/owner at the reception also said that the staff who cleaned our room had been employed for 2 years. Could it be that both incidents are connected to the same staff?
If you're travelling light, you should be ok if you choose to stay here. Otherwise, please lock ALL your luggage or risk loosing your purchases/belongings. Many a times, you won't realise what's missing, especially if you've packed a lot in your luggage and items are stolen gradually. You'll only realise when you want to wear/use a specific item.
I wouldn't book this place again given our negative experience. The most important thing for us is trust. Other aspects like room cleanliness, location is secondary.

COCKROACH. Room is SOGGY with HUMID Bad customer service from MANAGER Room smells BADLY
I found cockroaches in the room even I stayed 6 hours. I came back from travel another city and tried to have a rest. However I found a COCKROACHES (I found 2 in 5min), room SMELLS so bad and the room is SOGGY with HUMID.
I directly talked to the receptionist to change the room. However he said STAY TONIGHT and he will change it tomorrow for us. That was ridiculous. I didnt wanna stay at the hotel even one night. That was 12am. He told me he's going to find another hotel for us and I had a call with the manager too. They found a hotel but we can go into the hotel at 1am. We wait til 1am. My mom was sick of the smells and humid at that time. She caughed and sniveled for 1 hour waiting they find a hotel. 1am, they found the new hotel is fully booked so I can stay only 1 night. And I have to find another hotel MYSELF and pay more. They wont find a hotel for us. R u serious? Manager never come to check the situation last night even her guest was in very BAD and SHOCKING situation. She kept calling by phone and wasnt gonna help her guest.
They wasted our 6 HOURS in MIDNIGHT. We were so tierd.
You know what happend then? Eventually I found a hotel myself. It means they did not try to find a hotel. It was only 30 sec far from this hotel which have many COCKROAHES, SMELLS, HUMID and BAD MANAGER's ATTITUDE. That was 3.30am.
It was terrible experience staying this hotel. I will never come back this hotel and it made me think never come back to Japan.
Shame on you. You guys dont know how to take care...
Read moreBed bug infestation!! I’m so naive. I saw two bugs on my towels and I just thought they were regular bugs. I’ve never really seen or experienced bed bugs. But I do remember they love white. So I just thought it was weird to see the same type of bugs on two towels that were replaced. The second bug I showed they receptionists and she just made a noise out of fear. She didn’t know much English but I did my job and reported it. But I doubt it went further.
So here’s the bad part. We stayed there three nights. But I didn’t experience any bits or itching. I get home and the first or second night I’m itching like crazy. I see these bumps all over my arms. A few welts were really big. My leg was itching and more there. I look in the mirror my leg had ton of bits. Including my back. I couldn’t believe it. I told my brother and he said he had bits also. I’m thinking we took these things home with us.
Long story short. Come to find out bites don’t appear days afterwards if they do at all. I didn’t even think to take pictures but they were really bad.
I know even the best hotels can have this problem. But the amount of bites and the bugs I seen in daylight on my towels had to be a issue they hotel knows about. Just now I remembered both our beds had red drops on foot of the beds. I thought it was a marker so you know where the foot of the bed was. My Brother said it looked like blood come to find out he was right.
I’m getting angry just typing this. Been two weeks and I still got discoloration on my arms. You’ve been warned. If the bed bug wasn’t an issue I would recommend this place. But the bits were so bad I had to...
