BISTRO Carrot — Restaurant in Tokyo

Worst experience I have ever had in Japan (10 years living in Japan). Will never go to this restaurant second time. Sincere suggestion to tourists, don’t go to this restaurant, they are trying to charge you unreasonable fee. First, the water was asked to pay. This is the first time I was asked to pay the water fee. Basically, water is free in Japan. Second, the table charge was required. It is fine to charge that. But nobody told us that until their charged appetizer came. It is illegal if they don’t tell you the table charge before you order. Third, we ordered Quatro Formaggi usually I love this pizza. But the pizza in the restaurant is the worst. The cheese is too salty. And Quatro Formaggi supposed to be matched with honey, other restaurants they will provide honey. But in this restaurant, they gave us black pepper! I don’t really know the meaning of that…. Fourth, the staffs are not kind. When we questioned about water fee and table charge, staffs seem really familiar with this situation, they pretend that this is normal in Japan. No it is not normal! If you come to visit Japan, please remember, charged water and uninformed table charge are not correct. 前回品切れだったので、今回はカレーライス770円と注文。基本ワンオペなので、混みあう時間帯は結構待ちます。カレーには、豚肉としめじ、舞茸を炒めたものがトッピングされています。このトッピングの具は固定なのか、日替わりなのか、またリピートした機会に確認して見たいと思います。近くに大手カレーチェーンの店舗がありますが、あちらでまともに食べようと思った1000円を超えようかという時代に、これで770円はお得だと思います。

しょっちゅう使っているわけではありませんが、訪問するたびにランチメニューが変化しています。以前はパスタとスープが中心でしたが、それに加え、カレーライスやタコライスなどのご飯類、生姜焼きなどの定食類、さらにはラーメンまであります。大きなお店はないのに、こんなに広げて大丈夫なのだろうか？という気はします。

カレーライスを頼もうかと思ったら品切れとのことで、オムライス880円を注文。オムライスは、ケチャップライスで玉子の上にもケチャップ、そして周りにドミグラスというスタイル。チキンライスではなく、ソーセージが入っていました。さらにチーズも仕込まれています。ボリュームが足りるだろうかと不安でしたが、こんもりと盛られているので、結構ボリュームはありました。スープはにんじんとじゃがいものポタージュ。オムライスが濃いめの味つけなので、スープの甘味がちょうどいいです。

パスタがグルテンフリーの米粉パスタになっていました。ランチの4種のパスタの中から、ナポリタンを選択。前回、ちょっとボリュームが足りなかったので、大盛にしました。900円です。ナポリタンは、あまりケチャップの味や甘味が強くないタイプ。でも、赤いウィンナーで懐かしさはあります。米粉の平打ち麺は、もちもちした感じでした。ナポリタンよりカルボナーラの方が相性がいいかもしれません。スープは、温かいかぶのポタージュを選択。すりおろしたカブの甘味が効いていておいしかったです。

曙橋駅近くのビルの地下にあるビストロをランチで利用。ずっとお昼の営業は休まれていたと思いますが、気づいたら再開されていました。地下1階でお昼は他の店は営業していないため、店の前は暗く、不安になるかもしれませんが、ちゃんと営業しています。

ランチメニューは、スープとパンのセットが550円、スープとパスタのセットが770円。スープは4種類、パスタも4種類から選択可能でした。スープはクラムチャウダーを、パスタは菜の花とベーコンのペペロンチーノを選択しました。

小洒落たプレートの上に、カップのスープとお皿に盛られたパスタがのせられています。

パスタが小さく見えますが、お皿に深さがあるので、ある程度のボリュームはあります。ただ、私としては、もっとボリュームがあった方が満足できます。お店で食べるペペロンチーノらしく、強めの味付けなので、余計にボリュームが欲しくなりました。大盛130円を追加した方がよかったかもしれません。それでも、スープがついて900円なの...

The owner was very kind. He made sure that we could enjoy the food, and even serviced. The food was absolutely delicious. The potato salad was very unique - it had mixed nuts in them. The carrot salad - 10/10 would recommend. And of course, the pizza. I would give them a 12/10. Soft, crisp dough, rich cheese, and toppings of all different types.
