partial review did not have time to really try all the floors so comments are based on first floor.
Nice gym close to a station. More warmup/ training tools than a lot of other gyms. 3 floors with walls ranging from slab to steep. Also there's a small rope section.
Prices are pretty in line with other gyms but first time registration fees are waived for traveling foreigners.
The staircase between floors is a steep spiral staircase which seems like it might be a hassle when crowded. Bathrooms/changing rooms are fine and there's a couple lounge/free areas and a vending machine for drinks. multiple hangboards, campus board, sturdy pullup bar, and bands/rope for warming up
Setting seems to be more on the tension/ positioning side of things. Dense walls and not a lot of huge holds/volumes or coordination/dyno problems. Occasional deadpoint or step up here and there. I, however, did not get to climb much on the second or third floors, so maybe setting is different there. The top floor has an overhang to mantle wall, which looked really neat. Problems seem to mostly be by hold color, but each hold is labeled by tape as well, maybe for when two same color climbs are too close together? There's a set of monthly "challenges" or ungraded climbs ordered by number with higher numbers being harder. Not sure how often the rest is reset. Hold felt pretty good though, not super slick like some other gyms but also not new.
Difficulty wise didn't see any jug ladder vbs (but wasn't really looking). Lots for me and my friend to do (in American gyms/boards we're about v3/4 and v6/7). can't evaluate any double digit stuff but there were some climbs that looked pretty hard lol.
One really cool feature is delayed cameras pointed at the walls so if you fall you can check the replay.
Overall vibe was nice and casual. Felt like a loved local gym rather than a bigger...
Read moreJust started climbing for a few months, and BETA gym is amazing to me! Great variety of routes and problems available. For context, I’m usually climbing at the 3-5 difficulty level (from the easiest 🤣) at most gyms. A total of 2 floors for normal climbers like myself. The third floor seems to be dedicated for a particular mountain in Japan for people to do climbing with rope and clips. For people who love overhang, you are in for a treat! The 2nd floor has got overhangs ranging from 120 to 160 degrees, all marked out for you. They have a cool feature, where there are cameras on 1 minute delay capturing most of the walls - so you can review how you fare / fall 😂 I spent 2 hours having fun and die trying on certain problems before heading off with my arms giving up on me. The staff speaks minimal English, should you be a tourist like me, but the registration process is fuss free: scan a QR code n enter your general information and you are good to go. Best of all, it is only 2 stops away from Shinjuku and 1 minute walk from exit A1 of the...
Read moreNo registration fee for foreigners and very cheap climbing gym. (like 1500 on weekdays, 2000 on weekends, and 1100 on Tuesdays which is men's day event every week, all of which are 4 hours). A little cramped so the route system is old school with tape colours and shapes to fit as many problems as possible which is good although slightly confusing when climbing since it's hard to find the holds. The problems are sandbagged af, especially the second floor where some of their V1 problems should really be V4/V5+. Otherwise...
