BLEUE BLANCHE — Restaurant in Tokyo

We had dinner here on a recent weekend evening.

First, the positives: —The room is gorgeous, the lighting is perfect and mostly flattering (unless you are unlucky enough to be seated under one of the too-bright down lights). —The service was pleasant and efficient. —The spinach salad with bacon was excellent. Salad was room-temperature and the bacon was warm—it was a nice touch, and an interesting contrast. —Dog(s) that were in the restaurant were well-behaved. I'm not generally a fan of dogs in restaurants, but as long as they're not going crazy yelping and barking it's not a big deal.

Now for the not-so-positives: —The pizza crust is comically thin . . . like, thinner than a cracker. When it came out, I joked to my friend "they didn't even spread the toppings all the way to the edge of the cracker!" But that was actually more accurate than I realized. So this is basically some cheese, tomato sauce, basil spread over about 60% of a large, round cracker. It wasn't bad food, but I wouldn't call it "pizza"! —Pasta carbonara was not 'al dente,' it was just undercooked. Everyone has different preferences, but this was distractingly tough to chew. —Table next to ours was full of drunk people celebrating, and they were so loud we often couldn't hear each other. This is nobody's fault, but I either wanted to be a) drunker and at that other table, or b) in a quieter place.

We were hungry and in sort of a hurry, and nothing was inedible, but I really wanted the food to be a little better.

However, the room has a great vibe, service was good, and next time I'm in the area, I would come back and try this...

As a general comment I would define this restaurant as an average one. Probably I won't be going again, because the food quality is below average in my opinion. Cannot comment for deserts or coffee. There is way better food in the same block in this price range.

The bad: Dishes weren't that good. Fresh oisters not really "fresh", trippa was badly cooked and very chewy, pizza was probably frozen, pasta alla carbonara was ok. They refused to add the set dessert because 8 minutes past 14:00 Quite cold and discourteous...

Randomly found this place, it has a nice terrace in a relatively quiet area. The taco rice was interesting, first time to have half boiled egg on the top. Guacamole was also good with the right amount of coriander. The set comes with a coffee, I also got a gâteau au chocolat :p I...
