Din Tai Fung — Restaurant in Tokyo

This place can get very busy, with a long line outside of the restaurant. It is located on the 9th floor inside the mall. The food is definitely worth the wait. Their dessert dumplings are good, especially the strawberry/chocolate, but they are seasonal. My favorites are their Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings), shrimp spring roll, and their plum wine. I've visited Din Tai Fung restaurants in many places - Hong Kong, Singapore, Australia, and even Taiwan. I must say the Tachikawa store consistently impresses for taste, quality and service.

There's something special at work here: the xiao long bao skins are ever so slightly thinner, the filling juicier, and the drunken chicken more delicate. It's something that even their Shinjuku store cannot match.

The service is top notch too, and the interior is classier than the rest.

For those reasons and more, this store remains the definitive Din Tai Fung...
