Japanese Steak Bowl & Beef Curry Ikebukuro Branch — Restaurant in Tokyo

Oh my gosh?? I’ve never had Japanese curry before and I didn’t expect it to be this good. When I walked in, the doors were wide open, a cozy solace from the rain. The chef’s demeanor is quite serious, but definitely understood when you taste his food. It is perfection to a T. It didn’t even need any salt or pepper, has a perfect spice level, and all of the textures compliment each other very well. The tenderness of the steak, the silkiness of the curry sauce, the well-cooked fluffy rice, the crunch of the garnish, all things make for a perfect dish.

The woman who is waitressing is very enthusiastic and kind, and also very intuitive. I had no problem ordering quickly, receiving recommendations, and answers for my questions about portion size. She let the chef know my order and it came out quickly, almost in perfect timely fashion with my late-ordered drink.

I visited this restaurant with my brother (my second visit and his first time) and was shocked to see a cockroach crawling across the table in front of my bowl. I completely lost my appetite and couldn’t finish my meal. When I asked the staff for help, it took them more than 20 minutes and calls to the manager before they finally agreed to waive my meal (only my curry beef bowl, my brother paid for his own and our salad cuz we already finished them)

Really disappointed by this place because it had such great reviews and smelled delicious when we walked past it. First off, the English and Japanese menus had different prices. We had a group of 4 and they separated us into 2 groups even though there was open seating for a party of 4. We decided on one check and they gave us 2 different checks with significant upcharges and no itemized breakdown on how the total added up. This was the only place that had terrible service during our entire time in Tokyo and would not recommend this place...
